@lauren_cox15 thanks Lauren!😊😊

I like this from the article at ProspectsNation:

With players such as No. 1 overall Lauren Cox of Flower Mound, Texas, and highly regarded in-state prospect Aaliyah Wilson of Muskogee, Okla., considering the Big 12 school and two members of the ELITE 60 already pledged, the year of 2016 could be special in Norman.

Special S/O to @mulkeynancy for committing to OU. Sad that I won't be able to play with you, but know your gonna love it here!! #BoomSoon

It's good that Mulkey wasn't concerned about the recent bigs OU has brought in or committed. The great ones never seem to worry about that.

Great news, welcome Nancy to the Sooner familly. Can't wait to see her play.

With the guards we have coming in and the potential of other players that may commit, this looks like the possible making of a true power house team.

Since Nancy is a good face-up shooter who can hit consistently from the free throw line, it really frees up Odimgbe, Pierre-Louis, and Treece to get under the basket. The concentration will likely be on Mulkey. This should also impact the entry pass situation strongly. I don't know that we'll see a bounce pass for a few years. Throw it to a spot about three feet over Nancy's head. Most girls can't jump that high. I would think that the defenses are likely to collapse on her when she gets the ball on one side of the lane. She can see over everyone to pass in any direction.

I don't see a similarity in how Nancy is likely to be used and how Courtney was used. Courtney could establish her position, and nobody could really move her. Nancy isn't that strong---yet. But, her length makes her impossible to shoot over.

Her legs are pretty thin, which might concern me about the potential for ACL injuries. But, neither her mother nor aunt, both similar in height, had any problems that I can find. It doesn't hurt that her mother knows what it takes to play D-1 ball.

I envision Nancy as a defensive stopper. I don't see her as a go-to offensive star. She may not be able to get position. But, she should be a wide open target if someone penetrates. I see a lot of short jumpers and putbacks, a lot.

Just as Courtney did, this is apt to change our offensive and defensive approach, especially the offensive gameplan. But not until Nancy's second year when she should become more comfortable/accustomed/experienced in her position-just as you would expect. We have others who can play until she becomes more or less proficient. It's hard to accept that, after so long, Sherri has in a short time recruited a whole handful of bigs.

... And top ranked guards. I don't find it hard to accept at all.

Sounds like reuniting with Pam was a good thing.

scrybe,
how do you counter bad recruiting?
Sign higher ranked kids.
Sherri presuming the verbals sign (long time until November 2015, November 2016) has
turned things up in recruiting big time.

+1. It's pretty easy to see that recruiting is way above where it has been in the past. When you sign players like Dungee, Mulkey, and Llanusa, you are certainly moving in the right direction.

I think we're all on the same page here, guys. I'm not saying Sherri hasn't stepped up her recruiting, but this recent run just confirms my opinion that she's never been as poor at it as some here believe. I think it would be accurate to say that Sherri has been in a bit of a slump, recruiting-wise, since the Paris twins graduated.

I agree, good post!

scrybe,
I think the Griner/Baylor effect was hurting recruiting.
A heavy dose of negative recruiting by a bunch of different places.
Obviously, Hand's knee injuries hurt on the court big time. Always easier to recruit
when you have a national player of the year type leader.
OU's was coming in 2nd alot. No real backup plans (often no point adding a player
who could not help) left the roster thinned out in places.

Obviously changes have taken place and the impact is starting to show.
