Well, this takes the freaking cake! In covering OU's win tonight on ESPN Sports Center, the announcer show a high video of Markel Brown's dunks. He followed that with a Spangler rebound and put-back for two plus one. He correctly stated that Spangs finished the game with 15 points. But are you ready for this? He had him with 7 rebounds, not 17!!!

Are you kidding me? The ESPN brass should be embarrassed with the performance by their broadcast crews! :facepalm

Yup, I think he is as much of a difference maker as Smart. I don't remember which anouncer said "with him in the game you almost have to play 4v4" and he is right! He may not be the best defender in the world but he is not a scrub.

I kind of laughed when Fran said about Smart "throw out the stat line". Any time Smart has a good game it's "check out the stat line"!

If I may defend Fran... I think the "you can almost smell it" was not in reference to OSU being great but instead his disapproval for OU taking the air out of the ball with 11 minutes left in the game. He was basically making a point that it was too early to do 4 corners and kill clock.

I don't know, this was in reply to Mushburger saying "The game is slipping away from OU". It was pretty ridiculous spin if you ask me.

He shouldn't have said it b/c just 1.5 minutes later the game was put away.

yes and if i'm honest with myself, I was worried ****less that osu would continue their run. I was honestly never comfortable during the game

Quicker than that. Smart took a terrible shot after that. The Woodard hit a three, and got a steal leading to a fast break that gave Spangs free throws. The game was over less than a minute.

The media is as dissapointed about this loss as poke fans are. A blurb at ESPN says the Sooners shock the Cowboys with a win in Norman. Then they talk about how many points Smart scored and showed a dunk by Brown.

By professional standards the media is indifferent as to who wins. However it is very important that their hype be spot on and they will continue to sell it even when it is proven on the court that they were wrong.

No way are they going to acknowledge that they missed on their promotion of the game.

I agree with Big about Lon pulling in the reins. I think Fran was right in questioning it and I questioned it also ... BUT Lon knows the team way better than I do and he deserves the benefit of the doubt. We have seen OSUx make some impressive runs this season and Coach knows our defensive limitations so if he felt that was the best strategic way to choke them into submission then I will respect his decision.

The outcome shows that he was not incorrect.
