My earliest OU basketball memories are

It's not an "early memory," but I'll still never forget what I think is the greatest game ever played at the LNC. That's the 89-88 win over then-No. 1 UNLV in January of '87. While that team did wind up underachieving a bit too much later in the year at times, they did play a clutch game that snowy afternoon. It took me over an hour to get there from my place out near Quail Springs Mall, due to the snow. But people did show up and pack the place.

It's a good thing that wasn't a Sunday afternoon game. Memorial Road was severely impassable the next day. I do wish I had a scan of the photos I took of (A) Choo Kennedy's game-winning shot with 12 seconds left, and (B) the team's reaction to the ending when UNLV's Jarvis Basnight missed a follow-slam at the horn.
