First, this is another game we would have lost last year. Already matched our win total from last year.

Second, I'm still trying to figure out how we won. We were outrebounded, had more turnovers, shot 12 fewer shots, and had the same number of free throws. Weird game.

Third, before looking at the box score, I would have sworn they outrebounded us my 200 rebounds. So some things just aren't as they seem.

Fourth, love that even though TCU got physical with trae, he didn't get frustrated or mad, he got just kept playing and got even. Very mature.

Priority number one, we have got to learn to flatten and finish around the rim. Outside of trae and CJ, we just don't know how to get into people and get a shot up on the rim.

And finally, a good sign that we won without a lot of scoring from manek or freeman, and didn't have doo at all.

Can't wait on Wednesday.

This is a key point. I suspect this team believes they are in any game with Trae on the floor. The fact Trae remains calm in pressure situations sets the tone for the rest of the team. And to see it pay off with a big win against a top 10 opponent in their gym, that is huge in developing confidence. OU has to believe that they can win any game they play in.

Does anyone keep track of "fouls drawn?" I bet Trae Young leads the universe in that stat.

Yes. I live in KS and all my Jayhawk friends keep saying, “just wait until he faces big 12 physicallity... then he wil not look as good!”

How did we win? This team kind of benefits from the same "math problem" the Golden State Warriors benefit from. If you're hittin 3-pointers at a high rate, like this team does, it makes up for deficiencies in other areas.

I used to live in Overland Park, and my KU friends were insufferable. Of course, they earned the right to be until someone else wins the conference. :eddie187_jpg_xs:

Yes they have earned, schemed, cheated and earned. They're really really motivated to not suck at everything.

KenPom keeps track of fouls drawn per 40 mins. Young is 10th in the nation at 8.1. The leader is at 9.3. However, only two guys ahead of Trae have played at least 70% of his team's minutes.

Exactly. We have one of the better eFG% (effective field goal percentage) in the country:
https://www.breakthroughbasketball.com/stats/effective-field-goal-percentage.html

We are #10 in the above.

Thus, this leads into why our PPP (points per possession) is fantastic....we are 12th out of 351 teams. And we also play at a blistering pace.

Translation:...even on a bad day, we likely are still going to score at least 80 points.

College officials won't consistently call those 'NBA Type" of fouls. Trae will get that call all the time at the next level. He tries that chris paul/james harden type of rip through and college officials just don't know how to officiate that. I'm sure they haven't seen much of it ever. That part of the game has been frustrating because I personally hate those calls, but I mean there is contact and it is our guy. He just has 1-2 shots a game where it's not even close because he is trying to get the contact called.
Other than that I just hate officials and the whole system anyways. They should be held more accountable and there needs to be a system in place for them to lose money or be suspended if they don't get a certain percentage of calls right.

How much are college officials even payed? I’m guessing not much. And players are so big and fast that officiating isn’t easy. All I have ever asked for was consistency.

McNeace had a VERY GOOD game down the stretch including key bucket, blocks, rebounds, steals, and assists. He was all over the place

My favorite play was when he ran the full length of the court and intercepted their pass that would have otherwise been an easy bucket. My second was his assist to Kam after he caught it in the paint. My third was the big play where he got Trae’s miss and then fed Kam. Fourth was his steal along the sideline. The guy was everywhere.

D1 officials get graded after every game, or at least they used to. I bet they get 98% of calls right. I will watch a game I don't care about with friends who do care about a team and they always disagree with the close calls, but when the replay shows I tend to agree with the officials.
