1. How good is Gibbs? What skill(s) does she have?
2. Is KayKay 100%?
3. Is Maddie 100%?
4. Who takes over the rebounding responsibility(my biggest factor in next year's success)?
5. Who Does Sherri position behind Morgan for point?
AND
6. Who are we going to get for a center in this recruiting class? Next class?

Inquiring minds want to know. Need to know, are anxious to know, impatient to know, indeed desperate to know. Huge rewards offered for correct information.

LOL!

1. Gibbs. I have a feeling she is going to be a good prospect. She might not play a lot her freshman year but I do look for her to contribute next year and beyond.

2. Kaylon. I know she has participated in off season conditioning and have not heard any mention of her injury. Hoping she is 100%.

3. Maddie. I'm pretty sure she is going full speed but I'll check and see what I can find out. I'll also inquire about Kaylon as well.

4. Rebounding. It looks to me like rebounding will have to be by committee. I think Sharane will help pick up the slack of losing Joanna but others will have to pick up some slack as well.

5. Morgan's backup. I tend to think Maddie will be her primary backup but we could see T'ona Edwards as well.

6. Center. If Sherri can sign Hillsman, I think she will. Otherwise, I think we will wait until next year when there are several really good centers in the country.

I heard that Maddie and Kaylon will both be 100% this fall. Both are playing hard now.

Secondary mysteries:
Will Durrett find her D1 footing and contribute?
Will Nicole increase her rebounding by at least two rebounds/game?
Who will be our second leading scorer?
Who will be our leading rebounder?
And the list goes on................

I really hope Syb, Rocjunkie, Atlantasooner, Mac, and many others will join in as I love reading opinions from everyone. But, here goes:

1. Durrett. I do expect she will be better this year but I'm not sure she will get more minutes than last year because of the depth we have.

2. Nicole rebounding. I look for her rebounding to be pretty consistent to what we saw last year.

3. Second leading scorer. I will go with Sharane. Maddie may challenge.

4. Leading rebounder. I will pick Sharane in a close battle with Nicole Griffin.

If KayKay is a starter she will be the leading rebounder. She was a beast rebounding at the end of her freshman year.

I think Portia will contribute. She was supposed to be a strong rebounder but was just OK last year. She does have good touch on her shots for an inside player and doesn't shy away from shooting.

Nicole has to improve her technique to be better. She blocks out well but is slow to the ball when it comes off the board. I don't know if she can be quicker but she probably can release her blockout sooner. Possibly she was concentrating on blocking out for others to get the boards. Sherri's players usually have good senior seasons so we may get some improvement by Nicole on the boards.

Someone mentioned the other day that diversity is important because match-ups are key to success. This year Sherri will have more options to be diverse than in recent years. She can go tall with Griffin and Kaylon in the lineup. She can go small with Portia or Kellogg or Gibbs in the paint. She has good outside shooters in Sharane, Morgan, Aaryn, and Kornet. We expect that Wyatt is also a good outside shooter, perhaps Carter too. Sherri can also go with scorers as opposed to shooters with Maddie, Sharane, perhaps Carter, and Edwards.

But, as was mentioned, Sherri typically chooses her top 7, 8, or 9 early in the season and pretty much sticks with those she has the most confidence in. Will she move away from her comfort zone and become more diverse? It will be interesting to find out.

Well her is my farthing and a half. Your top 7 kids will be Aaryn, Morgan, Nicole, Sharane, Kaylon, Nicole K., and Maddie. I have seen Derrica and Gioya play, I trust Syb's evaluation of Shaya and think they could be a factor for spots 8-10.

I don't mean to be negative, but I guess I am one of the few who doesn't think Portia will be that big of contributor this season, and I hope I am wrong. I have never been a big fan of recruiting Juco kids, though is rare instances they can be a factor. I think Portia has too much "play ground" basketball in her genes and just won't be that much of a help this season. Just my opinion.

Kaylon is the real deal and will get quality minutes if not some starting time during the year. She is tough on the glass like Jo was, she was starting to develop a nice 17 foot jumper at the end of her frosh year, and I expect her foot work will be even better on the block. I really like this girl

Nicole will be stronger and I think will have a fine senior season. I like how each year she has improved and see her continuing to add to that trend.

Second leading scorer will probably be Sharane, with Maddie close if not equal. Both love taking it to the rack, and with that I expect they will share similar free throw opportunities through the season.

I have to agree with Norm, mighty mite Sharane will probably take over rebounding duties, but if Kaylon earns the minutes she deserves look out for her to be close to double digits.

Just my opinion for what its worth.

Not sure on the other topics, but I say Nicole will be first team B12 and one of the best "bigs" in the Country. You heard it here first.

Oh, and she will lead the team in rebounding this year and be our 2d or 3d leading scorer. Vegas will lead us in scoring. Morgan or Nicole will be 2nd and the other 3d. Manning will be next. So says my crystal ball.

By the way, I have been told by several people that would know, the Carter kid is better than what some are projecting and I'm told will play a role by conference. Talked to a parent of a kid OU is currently recruiting and who has played against Dungee, Carter, J-Wash, and Edwards and was told that Carter is fairly dramatically underrated.

I have no clue. I see this year as one in which we have some experience, but some of that experience hasn't stepped up yet. We may depend on freshmen more than we might have thought.

Rebounding? I look for Kaylon to take the lead. Nicole is the type of player who will do a specific job, but she isn't a dominant rebounder. For all her height, Griner wasn't a great rebounder. Griffin is a bit like that. I'll be surprised if she develops the aggressive attitude necessary for a rebounder. Do people change behavior that much? Kaylon is already a rebounder type that just needs minutes. She may play ten minutes fewer per game and still have more rebounds.

I do look for Maddie to get rebounds. I don't see Sharane as the type to step up as a major rebounder. Kornet may get more. Durrett is another who would have to change personality. Shaya can, if Shaya will. Gibbs? I think we'll see several who get a rebound to rebound and a half more per game.

Sharane has to prove to me that she can take care of the ball. For that reason, I expect Maddie to step up as the #2. I'll be interested to see what Hook, Kornet, and the freshmen do.

I see this as a team of unknowns. Are Kaylon and Maddie back? Will Sharane develop further? Will Hook become more of a scorer? Who among the freshmen will emerge? Kornet was a big name recruit who showed flashes. Will we see more than flashes?

November and December should prove interesting. I think we'll have a picture of this team by mid-January, but maybe not before.

Gioya has impressed me when I have seen her, and she is one of my dark horses to contribute this year. I like her style of play. One of the best step back jumpers off the dribble I have ever seen.

Sherri knows what Morgan, Aaryn, and Griffin are going to bring so, in the early games, those 3 will likely see minimum court time once we get a good lead. That will give Carter and some others a chance to prove what they can do. Who knows, Carter may be the first off the bench this season to give Aaryn a rest.

I think from a coaching standpoint the thing that has surprised me the most is how Sherri is going after more athletic players. Impressive!

I do know this, when it comes to clowns, I would put Kornet, Little, Maddie, and Carter up against anyone! :)

4 kids on first team all-american clown team. I like it :woot

Kornet is a kid you just can't help but like. It has been a long time since I have seen a kid "enjoy" the game of basketball as much as she does. Very seldom do you not see a smile on her face while on the court. A pure joy to watch, and I hope she has an incredible year.

Vegas
Not much to post about this girl in the context of this thread. She is one of the great Sooner players.
Hook
I do not expect to see anything this year we have not already seen from her as far as stats go. I believe she will be big 12 player of the week once. Maybe twice. She will be on the court as much as anyone.
Nicole
I am with CowboySooner on this one. An all big 12 center and our second leading scorer. I do not think her rebounds per game improve though. Its pretty wild that some of us are still excited about her growth and some of us want her off the court.
These 3 young ladies make up one of my favorite recruiting classes we have had. I do not mean to leave Portia out and can not wait to see how she does this year but I just have nothing to say at this time concerning her.

Sharane
Her impact on the team and how that impact translates to winning basketball will be one of those things that fly over most people's heads. Not the well-informed posters here though. She has Whitney-like qualities as far as leadership goes plus she can take over a game all the sudden. Her kicka** switch flips on. How many kids can break horses?

Maddie
Injuries happen and they suck. Really I just do not want to see her have any more. She can flat out play. The young lady is fearless. If we were to remove Maddie from this years team we are most likely Elite 8 at best. And thats pretty good. A healthy Maddie with a year of being pissed off on the bench with a knee brace makes a dangerous player.

Kornet
High ranked recruit. Shooter. Strong bodied. Kinda goofy really. I liked what she did last year. Once she settled down last year she did well. Damn I am ready for this season to start.

KayKay
My thoughts with her are similar as they are with Maddie. Not in their abilities or roles though. A final four for this team in my opinion needs KayKay on the floor getting rebounds and making layups.

These are the players that most likely get the majority of time next year based on what I know about them and what little I know about the other ladies. Someone will step up like Sharane did. Someone might transfer.

Peyton Little
I am real excited about her joining the good guys. I think she steps in and gets major minutes right away once she is done sitting out.

Like rocjunkie, from the start I've thought KayKay was a superior player. I have no doubt she will be All Big XII even if not this year.

I have been heavily involved in following this team for quite some time and I think this year I am going to step back and just enjoy the games for what they are.

I think we have a team that has a chance to be pretty good -- but there are a lot of unanswered questions with this squad, questions that could also mean we have a chance to fall on our face pretty seriously.

I like this team, probably better than last year's -- except I am really going to miss seeing Joanna on the court more than any other player in a long, long time.

I think all the questions and comments are good ones.

I like the idea of just sitting back and letting it all flow over me at the games this year. Trying to curb my type A personality a bit.

Keep all the comments coming they are very interesting. I am hoping for a great season with a lot of player development and excellence.
