Lots of odd picks thus far. I thought Drummond at 9 was a biiiig reach. I thought the Mavs made a good pick with Zeller, then they traded him to Cleveland. Maybe I'm confusing his skills with his younger brothers. Terrence Jones at 18 was a terrible pick to me, he's got talent but was a turd for half of his limited college career.

It'll be interesting to see what the Thunder does.

Jones can be a backup for KD or a post backup.

perry jones was a solid get at 28

Agreed.

Jones would have been a top 10 to 15 pick if he had come out last year. No way Presti thought he would still be around at the #28 spot. The Thunder got a steal.

Totally agree about the Zeller pick. I am surprised he went that late. PJ3 is a great pick if his injury isn't too severe.

What do you all think of Barnes? I think he along with Drummond are going to be the 2 big top 10 busts.

The only thing I worry about for Perry is he will two close to home. I sure hope the guys on the team are able to help him understand it is a job and he has to work hard and stay away from the bad influences of his past or those that knew him as a child and would use as an adult. He is an incredible talent. If he gets his head on straight and works hard he can be as good as anyone in this class, including Davis.

Barnes is going to play 10 years in the league, people love to bash him but he is a solid player who has a niche role...scoring.

this .. and not only 10 years he will average over 15 a game as a rookie ..and he will be close to a 20 ppg guy his entire career

I never say never with anyone but I don't think you have to worry about Perry as far as substance abuse issues or work ethic. That was never an issue at Baylor- a model kid. The confidence/passivity is the problem. I sat behind his parents at a game and dad fell asleep during the game. Just an extremely laid back family and that has seeped into Perry's personality.

But I think OKC is the perfect fit for him. He will never be an alpha dog. And he will never be an elite defender in my opinion. But I think he can create a very nice niche in the NBA. He can do things that are freakish. When I watched Baylor practices, he would race the guards including Pierre Jackson (who is very fast) dribbling two basketballs while those guys dribbled one. And he would beat them consistently. He is stronger than he looks. Financial problems were always an issue with the family. And he took his studies serious and that was stressful for him (making B's frustrated him). Without the distractions of financial stress and being a student, I think Perry will do well. He will be great value at the 28th pick in my opinion.

I have a feeling this is going to work out very well for OKC.

I agree with Denver. This is a win/win for OKC and I think there will be NO pressure on PJ3 other than what he puts on himself to show the naysayers wrong.

OKC lets him heal, gives him limited responsibilities, let's him work HIS minutes up and run the floor like a damn gazelle, and PJ3 makes some nice contributions.

PJ3 was a top 5 pick in last year's draft. Relying on him to be your franchise guy would not be a good idea, but he'll be perfect on a team like the Thunder where there's no pressure on him, just like how well Lamar Odom did for the Lakers.

I like this comparison.

I was not talking about substance abuse. I am just pointing out that being 3 hours from your home town invites more pressure from fools that want to claim they were you pal when you were a kid and now just want to ride your coat tails with nothing to offer. I think this is probably one of the biggest challenges celebrities face.
