From our friends over at SoonerScoop (George Stoia), a quick roll-up of the article's main points of interest to you all about the AD:

-New AD Hire: Names? Some have been floated around, nothing definitive, but believes an announcement could happen any day now.
-Thinks they know who they want, just waiting on BOR approval.
-Out of the Box hire, has worked at P4 schools, but not always in college athletics, contract negotiator.
-If Moser is fired, since it won't be Joe C hiring the next one, good idea to kick the tires on Kellen/Hollis but most likely an outside hire (since it is not Joe C).

I loved Hollis as a player but I'm not, in any way, in love with the idea of Kellen and never have been. Mainly I don't think we pull him from Houston and why would he want that? He'll be the next coach at Houston, which is set up better in every way for a coach:

More $$ backing them
Better facilities
In a hot bed of hoops for recruiting

They have ENORMOUS advantages

I feel like a lot of fans assume Kellen would prefer OU because he played here grew up here but that isn't a guarantee he WANTS to come back. What do we offer that is better than Houston?

Del Rancho. (Ron's Hamburgers as a close 2nd)

I agree though, I think if you interview, it is out of courtesy. No way do I want Kellen or Hollis having their first HC gig be OU.

Go and get any of the top 5 guys on my coaching list and we are getting somewhere.

Would be a disaster.. we cant just take a chance right now on brand new guys. He has to be a proven winner.. and I hate hiring OU guys (see: littrell, JJF, Murray, etc.).

Kellen got picked on by little kids at his own dad's bball camp. He does not command respect imo. Hes a dork. We dont want him. Kids of coaches are normally not as good.

Also from George's article:

"I would also say that I’ve heard it will be an out-of-the-box hire, but someone who most recently worked in college athletics — specifically at another Power Four institution. Someone who may not have always worked in collegiate athletics but has for the last few years and has a strong background in contract negotiating."

Hollis is not an option. He isn't even an assistant coach, he's got some other title. Can't go from that to HC at OU. No chance.

I don't think Kellen would come, even if offered, at this point, so no reason to debate if he'd be a good option or not.

Any word on who the next coach will be?

Sounds like the hire is imminent, within days.

Don't know if the guy has much of a basketball program since he has been more involved with football at Illinois. But if it truly happens within a few days, I hope he comes with a pink slip ready for MMM.

Funny we've been talking about Kellen being Kelvins successor since he was here. Kellen been waiting 20 years. Lol
