New Arena

OU admin doesn’t pay much attention to basketball. A new arena is not happening and won’t hapoen anytime soon.

Yep, not happening.

Doesn’t really have anything to do with paying attention to basketball. There just isn’t money for this. I seriously doubt football stadium is ever completed as envisioned and same with softball. It’s going to be a long time out before significant athletic projects are started again.

not until after the baseball and softball get done and without a 50+ mil gift not until after the next phase of football gets done with will be over 10 years from now

the UNP deal was perfect for OU basketball sad that it didn't work out

Joe C. isn't going to build a new arena unless someone decides to pay for it. Yes the UNP deal would have been great. Joe will keep telling everybody who listens that we have great basketball facilities.

Texas and Baylor are downsizing which I think is the right thing to do with college basketball attendance.

The facilities for the players is as good as it gets. Arena portion is kept up as good as it can be without massive renovation, which ain’t happening.

Football and basketball facilities are getting smaller! Too costly to attend and too comfortable to stay home and watch on big screen TV. Not sure that it will ever trend back to expansion of capacity, beer or no beer.

I agree, new arena will not put people in the stands.

this this this this this. I have been saying this for years. you redo that thing on campus. the intimacy and size makes it more exclusive and then you just pump the students constantly. you want to get it such that you have all your most rabid fans beating down the doors to get in. this is much easier if they just have to walk across from the dorms.

If you dont think the administration doesnt pay attention to basketball try softball. I wonder how many national championships we would have to win in order to get (for example) and interview with a new pitching coach? The administration's determination to completely ignore the softball program in view of its success is embarrassing.

That's why the UNP wasn't the best solution. Either massive rebuild of the Field House or just north of LNC would work better.

It was a better solution because of funding options available.

We need a big donor to step up for basketball. Unfortunately, don’t see it happening.

What are you talking about? Gasso is the highest paid coach in the country, interviews are a media issue not an administrative issue.
