New assistant coach announced! Coquese Washington

Penn State let her go after going 29-57 in the Big 10 conference games the last 5 years and missing the NCAA tourney all those years. Might be a great assistant. Who knows. The big question is will Coale listen to her and let her coach or just be another yes person.
 
I highly doubt she will be just another “yes” person. She is very intelligent, and she had to navigate a difficult Penn State athletics climate. I think this is a step in the right direction for OU WBB!
 
3-4x big 10 coach of the Year. Good hire. Imo
 
Very interesting...not making the tournament for the past 5 years is not too impressive. I hope this is a good hire. Maybe she'll help with recruiting..
 
so i got onto the Penn State wbb forum and for the majority, everyone liked her but is glad to see her leave..
 
I think this is a decent pick up. Coquetry has recruited well in the past, so she should make some type of impact in that area, I expect this to be a short stint tho, I’m sure she will be looking to get into head coaching over time...
 
Well she's from the Muffet McGraw coaching tree. Right now that's not a bad resume builder. She's very experienced and a true "outsider" from Sherri's prior hires. So that's good.

But she's not exactly a dose of youth into the staff.
Maybe that's coming in the 2nd hire.
Again, hard to really knock the hire. She has vast experience. It's no Colton.
 
Dose of youth? At age 48 she is not ancient. She has lots of coaching experience, including P-5 conference championships. She has to have tons of recruiting contacts in Big-10 country. What's not to like.
 
Sounds like she could be. Solid coach and a definite recruiting improvement.

If permitted she should be a definite help in recruiting. If permitted she has the experience and qualifications to help with coaching. If permitted...........
 
On paper she looks to me like a less successful Sherri that lost her job. And I don't think we need more of the same. Hopefully she can bring some new ideas, recruiting skills and fundamental. Until we see some results I consider this about a 5 or6 hire. Hopefully I am wrong and its a 9.

Some of you act as if she's taking over the head coaching position. How many assistants are formerly head coaches who bring a wealth of knowledge from a different Power 5 conference? She should be second in command, in my opinion.
 
I'm cautiously optimistic. I'll reserve final judgement for the start of next season. I hope to see some noticeable changes.


When will we hear about the 2nd hire? Hopefully soon!
 
I think this is a great hire. Certainly a difference in the coaches Sherri has brought over in all her hires.
I still believe keeping Colton on is a huge mistake but we will see where the chips fall?
