The OU basketball program has become a joke under Coach Capel. But it is not funny.

I say give him one more year and if he doesn't make the tourney next year he is gone. Looking at this season as a whole, he did a much better job with 1/3 of the talent than the abortion that was last years season.

Cool M I actually think Capel is a good coach, just about the only people I see that dont think he is a good coach post on this board, what does that tell you. If Joe C decides he needs to be gone so be it, I will cheer for the next coach. If he decides he needs to stay, I will cheer for him. Its pretty damn easy to sit in our chairs and say this and that about the sports teams. Truth is Jeff knows more about basketball than all of us. So why the Hell should I worry about it, Control things you can Control.

I couldnt agree more with this post. The MAJORITY of everyone on the fire Capel bandwagon quite possibly has never played college hoops or coached anything more than little league sports. It doesnt take a genius to see that this has probably been Capels best year at OU as a head coach. Sure everyone wants to harp on the talent and recruiting but to say this man can't coach is just absurd. I'm sure i'm in the minority when I say this but I've actually enjoyed watching this team improve and play with lots of heart all year long. Sure as a coach your judged by wins and losses and you very well should be but to question his ability to lead these young men is just wrong in so many ways. Do I think Capel is a great coach? H*** no but I think he's a solid coach thats young and has a lot of upside. Most impotantly I think he's a class act and has represented OU very well up to this point regardless of what his future at OU is.

I certainly didn't play college basketball. I went to OU and you don't play sports at OU unless you are outstanding. I also don't think having played or not played college basketball has anything to do with whether or not a person has a valid opinion.

Personally I decided to support Capel for another year when oU won four games in a row. Winning against OSU and this game against Baylor further supports my personal opinion that it is in the best interest of OU to keep Capel but it is a bit silly to suggest that are done with Capel are crazy or don't have a valid opinion. Capel has done a bad job. The only reason I support him is because I think he has learned from his mistakes and will have a much improved team next year. If he doesn't, I will be one ofvthe first to call for a change.

YOU CAN SAY THE EXACT SAME THING WITH THOSE ON THE KEEP CAPEL BANDWAGON! A 14 win season is his best year. That's grounds for firing if you were right.

I'm right there with you. There have been some unbelievably frustrating times during the course of this season, but overall, it's been a joy to watch a group of guys compete night in and night out (minus Taco Tech and Mizzou game).

If you took this poll in 2009 it would be 95% for keeping him. You take it now and it's 50/50. You take it when Blair/Pledge/Fitz/Osby/Goff are seniors and it will be 95% for keeping him again. So many bandwagoners that just think because they are involved with OU that OU should always be great. They just dont get the big picture.

I understand the reasons on both sides of this issue but why weaken our coach's recruiting efforts by providing material to other schools to go negative with. Jeff is our coach and deserves our support. Those OU fan's that don't agree should contact JC or other fan's privately instead of whining on message boards.
