Does this open up another spot for the 2012 class in the late signing period or does OU just sit on it until 2013? Anyone heard if OU is interested in anyone else for this class?

I think Cole gets it. Thats why there was a release on Sooner Sports that announced the signing of Henry and Cole.

Cole was ALWAYS going to get a ship ... he was just not getting one until 2013

with the press release he is getting one next year

Cole getting a scholarship is just dumb besides the fact that he'll help our APR. Is he even going to see playing time?

With as many people leaving as have we will need that APR bump probably to keep all our ships. Look at UCON.

I don't think Cole is any good. I knew Neal would be good but Cole is not impressive at all.. Worse schollie player than Thompson and/or wright

I don't know the circumstances with Cole but just because a player signs an LOI doesn't mean they are on an athletic scholarship.

Cole may be, but signing an LOI doesn't mean they are for sure.

I find it really hard to believe that Kruger would offer a scholly to anyone that is worse than Thompson. Especially since Lon has the spring signing period to bring in someone else. I'll give Cole the benefit of the doubt. He had some decent mid-major offers.

I'm not an expert on NCAA rules. But, I do have Google.

If a player signs a LOI in expressly means they have a ship. It is that contract deal. Both parties get something of value. The school gets the player's services. The player gets financial aid.

I wasn't sure about D1 schools, I do know that at the Juco level, kids sign LOI's that are not on scholarships.

25 years ago (or so) Billy Tubbs gave a scholarship to a really smart kid that might have been able to get an academic scholarship. This particular kid went on to carry a 4.0 at OU. After about a year or two into his time with the basketball team Tubbs was wondering if he made a mistake with the basketball scholarship but then things started falling into place and working on the court for this player. He became an extremely important part of OU's 1988 final four team. In fact, he kept OU in the final game.

That kid was Dave Seiger. I have no clue if Cole can contribute like Dave Seiger but I am more than willing to see Coach Kruger take a chance on Cole.

I spent some time with an Oklahoma AAU coach this week. He told me Cole was a good get. Said he had great athletic ability. Not well known outside of this region.

Also told me the kid from Roland, Youngblood, was a fantastic player.

Be Interesting to see if Kruger uses it on a JUCO kid. Maybe one that blossoms during the season.

After talking with several of the Oklahoma lower level schools I am shocked that Cole got offered anything other than a Walk on spot.

I hope he does well, I just don't see this one.
