Nice to see OSU lose

I probably don't need help mowing my lawn, but if help is available, I'll take it 10 times out of 10.

It's that simple in my mind

Winning the conference outright or even worse sharing the title with 4 or 5 losses is not what this team is about .

This team is TOO good to drop 3 more games with a schedule where they will be favored in every remaining game minus WV( could be favored in all)

I know this year the goal of this team to win the conference but so is making a final four . They need that number 1 seed in the BEST bracket , to help with that .

Obviously an injury could change everything and losing just 3 more would still be something to hang our hat on .

We are in control of the conference race .We are healthy . We have the best player in the country . Two more sr's and a jr, a veteran squad . We are currently playing at our highest level of season . Only one more loss the rat of conference is not asking too much from this team . If their goals are a final four and maybe more , then they bring it every game , every night , against anyone from here on out .

I guess what I'm saying if this team needs help from others losing because OU has MUTIPLE losses down the road .......... Then this team isn't going to play to learn potential down the stretch .

They played the meat of their schedule already , it's time to step on the gas and win this conference looking ahead , not behind

If we win out or lose at most two more games before the tourney, we will be the #1 seed regardless of what baylor does. You guys are over thinking it. Last nights game really didn't matter but if given the choice, I choose what helps us win the conference. Say we stumble and baylor went on a roll and won the conference (lol I know). No way OU is getting #1 overall seed if they don't win the conference

Baylor isn't going to win this conference . Saying that two or three more loses and ou won't win it outright either . If that happened we need all the help we can ( teams we beat highly ranked ) if there are going to be two number 1 seeds from the big 12 ( I don't think we can get two)

Osu wining doesn't make your conference look good , it makes to top teams look weaker . Osu is a horrible team , they get no respect and won't make the tournament . No one will say " wow the big 12 is great even their bad teams look good " .

They will say " ou / Kansas / Iowa state aren't those elite teams that we thought they were"

We are in the drivers seat on this conference , we don't need bottom tier teams degrading our good wins . Osu beat Kansas last week , guess what they still suck .

I want insurance in getting the number 1 seed in the tourney . Having your good wins diminished doesn't give you that . Baylor wasn't winning this conference wether they won or lost last night .

Okay but read my post again...I'm not saying, in any way, shape, or form, that OU NEEDS help to win the conference.

I'm just saying, help is nice.

To be able to take some of the pressure off of our guys, have a nice, cushy 2 game lead going into the final 3 games of the year, that'll be HUGE for our team, and give us even more confidence going into the Big 12 tournament.

Think long-term

If the difference b/t us getting the #1 seed is the baylor/osu game then we don't deserve it. That game is irrelevent to our seeding. But it is relevent to being conference champs.

At some point the "B12 is a strong conference" narrative gets locked in no matter what happens the rest of the way. Even if things completely fell apart at the top, I don't see us losing a #1 seed and OKC unless we relatively tanked in the regular season (say 3 more losses) or flamed out in the B12 tourney quarters. Maybe both.

One game vs two other teams isn't going to change our seeding . But Baylor , Iowa state , and WV struggling down the stretch could .

Baylor isn't winning the conference , there is no need to hope for losses to insure that we still do . They have another 3 maybe 4 loses .

If we drop 2 or more games and end up tied with Kansas for the regular season , that means we probably are ranked around 6th to 10th . ( more so if they are late season loses)

The winner of big 12 tourney ( unless it's someone other then ou or ku) would probably get the 1 seed and the loser a 2 maybe even 3 .

We need all our GOOD wins ranked as high as possible to help with seeding . An osu team with a losing record we would get no credit for but a Baylor team ranked in the top 25 would help a lot .

The worse thing for this conference would everyone beating everyone , the conference champ having 4 to 5 losses , and only three top 25 ranked team .

We would for sure only get one 1 seed.

We aren't getting two 1 seeds with a 4 or 5 loss conference title that is shared

Not sure that's entirely accurate. Have you been paying attention to the mayhem at the top of the rankings this season? The only teams in college basketball with fewer than 3 losses are SMU (1), North Carolina (2), OU (2), Xavier (2), Arkansas-Little Rock (2), St. Mary's (2), South Carolina (2), Grand Canyon (2), and Hawaii (2). Obviously, most of those teams aren't even in the conversation for a #1. And we're not even to February yet. I bet there's at least one #1 seed with 5 losses this year.

So if the co-champs of the best league in the country finish with 4 or 5 losses, I could definitely see a scenario where they both get #1 seeds. It's not uncommon for two teams from the same conference to get a #1 seed. It's happened 8 times in the last 20 years: 2009 UCONN & Pitt; 2006 UCONN & Nova; 2005 UNC & Duke; 2003 Texas & OU; 2002 Maryland & Duke; 2001 Illinois & Michigan St; 2000 Arizona & Stanford; 1998 UNC & Duke.

I was pulling for Baylor, but not because I hate OSU. I think the conference is better when it's best teams are better. OSU becoming a .500 team doesn't help the conference and doesn't help OU's resume but if Baylor ends up,being a 4 seed or something like that, it makes the conference look a lot better.

Exactly plus it is fun to see Bloberts head explode.

I don't care how the conference looks. I care about how OU looks. OU controls their own destiny. Doesn't matter what the rest of the conference does. And we have a better shot as big 12 champs than as our conference looking better.

So I assume you guys are rooting for Kansas and isu and wvu to win all their games too except for when they play OU?

Conferences matter. UAB is 17-3, Valparaiso is 17-4, Chattanooga is 17-3, Grand Canyon is 18-2, AR Little Rock is 17-2, St. Mary's is 17-2, Stony Brook is 16-4. Everyone of those teams is leading their conference and has a record as good or better than the bottom nine in the top 25 but none of them are ranked and most of them are hardly getting any votes. The reason is they are not playing top competition.

I never want KU to win.

Sure. Why not? The better they are, the higher the conference RPI is which means we're more likely to get a #1 seed and the #1 overall seed. That matters and I'd like our chances more if we win the toughest conference and play one of the toughest schedules than if we're, say, the best team in the SEC or PAC 12.

It matters what the rest of the conference does. I hope the Big 12 pulls a clean sweep over the SEC this weekend.

As much as I detest ku and love seeing their fans when the schools ONLY sport worth a crap sucks....BUT...I'll hope they win sat and every game but OU.

Kansas and Iowa state both could win the big 12 if ou drops 2 or more games .Baylor can't . How hard is that to understand ? We don't need to worry about Baylor catching us in the big 12 champ race ... It's not happening .

What could hurt us is them falling off the map ( top 25) So far they are literally our only good road win ( big 12)

Kansas , Iowa State , and WV all dropping two more would give us all the wiggle room we need .

Baylor has MUTIPLE losses ahead ( just getting to the meat of their schedule ) we don't need them losing games they shouldn't .)

Again they aren't competition in the big 12 race , they have no chance . What we do need is them ranked in the top 25 come bracket time .

I totally understand why it helps OU if the teams at the top of the Big 12 continue to win to keep their RPI as high as possible. But, if OU wins the conference title, no one can convince me that a Big 12 championship alone will not be enough to warrant a #1 seed in the NCAA tourney.

How do you accomplish that goal? Beating the teams we'll be picked to win and winning all or most of the games still left on our schedule against the teams at the top is one way. Hoping those teams lose more games than they win is another. That's why I plan to pull for any team in the conference when they play KU, ISU, Baylor and WVU, no matter how high or low that opponent is ranked in the national polls.

That will not be the case in the Big 12/SEC challenge. I want to see the Big 12 win every one of those games.

yep .. if we are the still the #1 rpi league after sat we stay that way the rest of the season ..

The reason this is true, though, is because all those other teams in the conference are really good. If they weren't, winning the Big 12 isn't nearly as significant.

No we don't. It will not matter if we take care of business and win the big 12.

The whole argument was that you said we needed them to lose because they are in contention for the Big 12 champs . Baylor isn't going to be big 12 champs regardless of what happens to us , but they will for won't if we take care of business .

So what is it ? Why worry about them , if you think we are going to take care of business ??

I on the other hand would still want that high seed for the tourney no matter what . Let's say we lose buddy for a 3 or 4 game stretch , and finished tied with Kansas .
We probably aren't getting 2 number one seeds unless our RPI and peoples opinions of the big 12 drop .

The reason this conference is so good is not just Kansas and ou . Wv, Iowa state , and Baylor help it tremendously .

Osu win or lose isn't doing crap for this conference , in the polls or in the RPI.
