so what's his story? Just heard about him today. I guess he's blowing up and had a great tourney in Houston. Has anyone seen him play? Can you describe his game? Thanks

I do not agree with his taste in socks

This is from scout's update on him this past weekend.
First impressions are big over here at Scout.com and we like this guy. Here’s the checklist: athletic, leaper, jet to the rim, decent shooter. His shot selection could be tightened up but his physical attributes rate high

Yeah, I saw stuff at Phog about him for the first time but most there hadn't heard of the guy so looking for some insight on if he's a high major player in the opinion of those who have seen him.

He was quoted in the Ardmore paper that his dream was to play basketball at KU. He is attending KU"s elite camp as well. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he gets an offer and accepts it on the spot.

He plays at my former High School (Ardmore) and got to watch him play a few games this season...

He plays much more mature than a Sophomore, when he drove to the hole he did it with purpose...very solid vision and not shy getting others involved...Explosive off of the dribble as well as gets good lift on his jumpshot...Saw a couple of nice dunks in traffic that you dont typically see from a guy his build...

Negatives right now are focus and knowing how to use his aggressiveness...he got in foul trouble pretty easy and didnt look like he understood how to still be aggressive with fouls...shot will get more consistent as he gets older, could use better selection but it is high school and he could pretty much get his shot whenever so i dont really blame him...

Both times i watched him i didnt get the feeling he was a High Major recruit for a school like Kansas, but then again he is a sophomore...i saw him more as a guy that could play in the Big XII but probably for one of the lower tier teams...The main reason i think this is because of his size, if he grows some and puts on some weight he could be a solid 2 guard but as it stands he is a shooting guard in a PG body...

I saw him catch one of the nicest alley oop dunks of any one on any level a few weeks back. The scout assessment seems to be spot on. One critique I'll add is he floats a little too much on his pullup jumpers. Tends to shoot off balanced when going to the hole. That's common with athletic guys. Needs a few pounds as well.

I heard he was a jet on the court. I think that's so underrated in terms of perimeter play, that extra burst of speed is huge.

Thanks Edmond and DM for the insight on his game. It will be interesting to see if Self offers.
KU's 2012 class is shaping up in monster form so he may not get an offer until late which would make his recruitment interesting. Gotta give the kid props though...he's kind of put himself out there the last few days with his recruitment.

From Eric Bossi's blog on Nino back in April at the Boo Williams
Nino Jackson, PG, Athlete’s First- A super quick class of 2012 prospect, Jackson was very impressive. The 6-foot-1 player out of Ardmore (Okla.) High is a relentless attacker of the rim who can also pull-up and drain jumpers out to the three point line. A flashy passer, he’s a bit out of control but clearly very talented and a high major prospect. Even better, he’s a big time defender who rips passes out of the air and picks opponents pockets.

We get the elite football players from Kansas, and they get the elite basketball talent (with the exception of Blake) as well as other schools in the area.

What is it going to take to keep these kids here, and more importantly in Norman? I understand (to a degree) with Henry going to Kansas, considering his parents, but what about the rest of them?

Do we need to win a National Title before they consistently stay home?

KU is a basketball school that's very close to Oklahoma. Kids who want to play for a basketball school will consistently go elsewhere. It is what it is. If you want to play in a great college basketball atmosphere in front of packed houses on national TV every night you go to a school with that environment. Every kid is different.

It's not that close to Ardmore, though. But there was a news writer for the Daily Ardmoreite, for one school-year, though, who thought that Ardmore readers wanted to read his thoughts on his alma-mater (KU), back in '84-85. They didn't.

The bottom line is no matter where you are at in Oklahoma you will know about KU basketball and the opposite is true for OU football in Kansas.

Also, he started his HS career in OKC at NW Classen. KU has recruited really well in the OKC metro.

What are you basing that assumption on? That's boca level retardation.

No, but I do think that we need to be competitive with Kansas more than we have been. Also I think the right coach would work wonders, I still think that Jeff is that guy in the future. That was the shame of last season, he (and the team) had built up a TON of goodwill among the fans. Now it has vanished (maybe for good).

I dont think it is gone for good, but i do think the program took a couple steps backwards...gonna take a top 10 ranked team to get it back IMO...people are still gonna show for the rivalry games just like this year, but consistent attendance is gonna be tough...

seriously without trying to be a guy who threw a turd in the punch bowl, how many years away is this program from being a top 10 program? Do you see that anytime soon?
