Thats for damn sure... Man, those guys can shoot the lights out and have great post players with Conklin and Rob Loe (7 footer). Pretty unique makeup for a mid-major team. Oh, and they have one of the best and most respected coaches in the country who has played for national championships at Utah as their coach.

No shame in this... That St. Louis team is just freakin good. They didnt beat Boston College, Washington, and Villanova by accident. Looks like they are gonna add Oklahoma to their list of BCS teams that they take down already this year.

Hopefully this is just a one game thing, but the glaring detail I noticed is a total inability to defend the rim. Layup city (when they arent drilling open 3's).

I agree. Most knew this would be a tough game to win. Hate to call someone out but Fitzgerald cannot defend the post very well.

Growing pains. Its still awful early to start putting people in the tourney, and eliminating others. St Louis is decent, but moreso, we are just seeing the struggles that this team will have when we play teams with a pulse......

Even keel folks, even keel........:OUbball-logo::OUbball-logo:

Most teams don't have good balance like SLU has. We are going to struggle against teams with a good inside game - especially if we can't zone or double team because they are dangerous behind the 3 point arc.

Can hardly wait for us to get M'Baye next year. He would make a huge difference in this game.

On a side note, anyone notice Grandy Glaze on St. Louis's team? He was a commit to UNLV when Kruger was there and decommitted after Kruger left for OU. I just thought that was interesting.

M'Baye and Henry will be much needed height upgrades....And from what we hear about M'Baye, a talent upgrade as well.

I have already penciled SLU into the 2nd round of the NCAA tourney.

They're a bubble team, will need to do work in the A-10.

Agreed!

I wouldn't be surprised if SLU peaks too early. I think we have lots of growing and maturing to do. As the announcer said, "they are ahead of schedule" speaking of OU and I truly believe that. That doesn't mean we'll make the NCAA, NIT or have an outstanding year. We've played 5 games and I don't know of many who would have thought we would have played as well as we have so far. Let's keep playing and get better for the rest of the year!!!

Excellent point. Veteran teams fair pretty well in the early tournaments, while very talented teams like UNC are trying to discover a rotation, roles, etc. Coaches will shorten their benches, teams will discover an identity, and ultra talented teams will begin to gel/dominate.

Majerus has these guys doing what they do very well, but they are not going to strike fear in top tier teams by any means.... IMO

SLU is a dang good team, and played very well.

OU's foul trouble in the first half was too much to overcome.

i missed the game, did glaze see much action? i loved him as a recruit.

Not enough prep time for a young team which lead to the more experienced and senior laden team exploiting us on the defensive end. We hung with them for a while, but as they calmed down they could easily dice us up on offense and we had no solutions.

St. Louis is obviously well-coached and disciplined, which is what you would expect from a Majerus-coached team. They are experienced and have some quality depth. They could possibly be one of those mid-majors that have a chance to make some noise in March.
