Forgot about that kid. He went to Bartlesville. He wouldn't have came to OU because he was Mormon, but I thought he was worth an OU offer.

I agree, he completly owned Keith Clark at the state tournament in high school. He is the best all-around post player I have seen coming out of high school in Oklahoma. He single handily took Bartlesville to the state tournament his senior year.

Why do you say he wouldn't have come to ou because he is Mormon?

They can go to college wherever they want. Of course he would have had to take two years for his mission, but he would be able to come back and finish his eligibility.

A lot of Mormon kids go to other colleges out west

His mormon faith gave BYU an Advantage. OU didn't come after him.

according to his player profile page at the BYU Basketball site he was "also recruited by Utah State and Oklahoma State," but I don't remember if other schools may have been in the running/of interest to him.

Hartsock is a good player. I will be dissapointed if we don't get the kid from Putnam city (Neal) and I have to watch him playing in the NCAA tourney a couple of years from now like I did today with Hartsock. Because as far as I know, Neal is not Mormon.

OSU told Hartsock in high school that in two years when he is done with his Mission if he wanted to come to OSU they would have a scholly for him.

Played with the kid at the Phillips gym in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was still in H.S.

At that time, his brother, Nate, dominated him. Nate played a little at Bartlesville Weslyn. Good kids!!!!

There is another Hartsock who is a Freshman, he is supposedly better than his brothers, I have not seen him play, for some reason he chose not to play High School ball this year but something that OU may look at in the future. BTW when Hartsock played at B-Ville I watched a lot of his games and he did not do it single handedly, they had a very good guard by the name of Ben Rovenstine. He is a NSU now, a very good shooter, of course the main reason he was open was Hartsock, but there were other good players.

They had another 6-9 guy who went to Tulsa.

Everyone underestimates the benefits of taking a two year mission...that's a lot of maturity, mentally and physically.

Rovenstine was a very good shooter, but I am pretty sure he graduated the year before Bartlesville played PCO. Rovenstine was a big reason Bartlesville was in the state tournament Hartsock's junior year, but I do not think he was on the 2006 Bartlesville team that played PCO in the first round of the state tournament at Sapulpa.
