With James & Odomes comimg in and Woodard, Cousins, Walker, Buford , and possibly Buddy returning....will there be any minutes for Booker?? I could see him being this years odd man out. He was predominantly considered a mid-major player coming out of high school and maybe that level is more fitting for his game

It wouldn't be a surprise for him to transfer after this season.

Gosh I think some of you want him to transfer. Someone brings this up at least once a week. It's no given that the new guys coming in will beat Booker out for minutes. He's got one strong skill with his shooting range...so he adds value, especially once he gets back to his old self.

To me Walker has been a big disappointment because he can't handle the ball and his shooting especially from 3 has been awful.

If booker dedicates himself, its highly unlikely the new guys beat him out for minutes.

Booker has been shooting terribly this year, whether that's because of injury, bad attitude, or just bad luck, who knows. But he's too good of a shooter not to get his stroke back.

The question is really whether he's okay with being a 12-14 minute a game guy next year and then trying to win the starting job as a senior.

Walker has been better than expected the first half of the year. Making great drives to the basket and hitting outside shots. Last couple of games he has been off. Where were you Nov and Dec?

Agreed.

I think Walker is the odd man out. He was brought in to be a backup PG and that hasn't worked out. He's ok off the bench, but with two more guards to compete with, plus Buford taking up a spot, I don't think Walker will provide us much worth giving a lot of minutes to.

I doubt our two freshman guards will be ready to take many of Walker's minutes. He'll be a senior, and he'll hopefully be making that second-year juco jump.

I think people generally expect too much of the average freshman; it's a pretty rare first-year player who's ready to play significant minutes right away.

He was great against bad teams. He was brought in to be the back up point guard and he couldn't do it. Not the kid's fault, but we need a back up point guard.

And oh by the way he is shooting 33% overall and is 1-12 from 3 in big 12 play. 0 assists and 7 turnovers. If that is the spark off the bench you are looking for good luck in March.

Why Booker and not Buford?

Why anyone? These guys have a chance to be a really good team next year. If someone transfers they sit out a year and will probably be a lower level.

I really hope everyone stays.

I hope they stay too, but it's hard for a lot of kids good enough to play for a place like OU out of high school to realize they aren't going to be going to the NBA and they are probably just a role player for the team.

There a lot of minutes to be had Frank Booker's senior year. Walker, Cousins and Hield are all gone. He sits a year if he transfers and cannot play until his senior year anyway. Might as well stay at OU and be part of a potentially really good team.

Furthermore, if Frank starts hitting his 3 point shot, he can be a huge contributor this year. Coming off the bench and knocking down three point shots is very important. There are plenty of guys in the NBA that fill just this role. (I am not implying Booker is likely to make the NBA, I am simply stating teams need a player like this)

I agree there is a place for him here. Still, if he transferred he'd have two to play elsewhere, and if he went somewhere smaller he'd likely get a lot more offensive volume. No idea if that's what Frank wants, but there's definitely players out there who would prefer that scenario.

The stats don't lie....
