Literally set a record for assists in a game at 22. And leads the nation in assists.. post less

How long ago was that? We’ve lost 7 of 9 since playing better competition. And trae is a huge reason for that. Yes he’s a freshman. But we are not a team and he isn’t leading.
Kruger is letting trae run the team and it’s wearing me down.

I can’t stand watching a talented team play crappy me basketball.

Trae isn’t the savior you all make him out to be. And he is looking more and more like he will be a bust.

Trae had a bad game......it happens; it's basketball.

I still want him in the game because he's our best player. He is tired; some of his fouls tonight were frustration fouls. He wasn't getting many calls; what he did were so obvious that they had to be called.

He needs more help on the offensive end and the team needs to find a defense that they can play effectively. If that means a simple zone, then so be it. There are too many defensive lapses on this team....I think some of it is because of all the subs we run in and out of the lineup.

He had offensive help tonight. But his careless decisions in crucial stretches and bad shooting likely cost us the game (although the 2nd half defense was really bad). And this has become the norm for him on the road. He may get 27 and 9, but has too many TOs and other bad decisions. I don't have the answer.

I mention early in the year if TY would have anything left in the tank, I believe we finding out now the gauge is between 1/8th and empty..kid needs to get some rest

We are getting a good glimpse at why Normon North never had success in high school playoffs with young. His style isn’t conducive to great team success. It’s all or nothing based on how good of a game TY is gonna have.

Good post...+1

Well, I got to see the win...(1st half)... glad I missed 2nd half.

I do know I saw 6 points by Tt from a direct result of not blocking out on the def end...with 3 OU guys to 1 tt guy.

A rebound and kick out for a 3, a 3 off rebound effort under the bucket ending with a put back +1.

Total lack of effort...

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-8, 6-6] vs. Texas Texas [21-4, 9-3] Game Thread<<<<<

Teams have figured out how to stop TY too.

Put pressure on him at halfcourt with length.
Double team him on screens.
When he drives collapse the defense.
Let him dribble to the corner and double him and take away the cutter.

He doesn’t play defense.
Leaving our success up to TY and TY alone is gonna end our season. He’s our best player but his usage is too high.

I don't have any answers either.....but who can he consistently look to for help???

CJ played well tonight. But the last 7 games he's been in a funk. So it is good that he played better tonight.

McGusty scored some big shots tonight.......but he's played bad enough the last handful of games that I thought he would surely be somewhere else next year.

Trae doesn't know who to throw the ball to.....so sometimes he just tries to do too much. Too many times tonight, his teammates failed to finish.

Like I said earlier, Trae had a bad night. It happens.

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-8, 6-6] vs. Texas Texas [21-4, 9-3] Game Thread<<<<<

So I have re-evaluated my expectations for this team. I LOVE TY and continue to enjoy watching him play. Unfortunately as he goes our team goes. Obviously he had a terrible shooting game tonight (0-9 from 3 the last time I looked - hit just a few of those and we might win) and had some bad turnovers. I feel that maybe he has hit a little bit of a wall. The positive side of this is if we win our home games I think a 7 or 8 seed, which is Wonderful compared to last year. If he can regain his footing we can win all our home games and maybe one road game and one or two in the tourney.

Sometimes I think he is TOO unselfish and others he takes those quick long shots, although I still think we have a better shot with those than throwing it to any of our bigs. This team is fairly short on talent outside of TY and a few others so this losing period shouldn’t surprise us too much.

Bottom line is we were close on the road against the #7 team in the country and I didn’t expect to win this one. Win the rest at home and gain your momentum and steal one on the road and we will be OK.

Your post made me think of the first half when we closed with Muni. He was abusing their bigs.......and we didn't see anything close to that in the second half....I know there had to be a reason, but I don't know why.

I just want to see team basketball again instead of “I am taking over now”. Of course, we need to find a coach who can teach defense as well.

I thought we had spurts of quality defense to start the game and for a good portion of the first half. But there is no way we are going to play 40 minutes of sustained defense like Tech does. More so than Kruger not teaching defense I think it is a case of Kruger not demanding the team play consistent quality defense for 40 minutes no excuses. There needs to be consequences if you slacken up on the defensive end.

Prob is LK doesn't GAS about Def...never been a def minded coach...

Yep. No effort or toughness at all.

And half the time if trae gave a crap he could get some of those rebounds

I didn't get to see 2nd half...so what's your take? did Tt do something to stop it? double down, front the post? I thought we def had the adv in the post, but it's like we get something going then just wear the **** out of it...instead of mixing it up.

We do that on outside shooting as well...it seems to me.

Yep. And it doesn’t help when Sheppard - who has played decently in recent games - gets only 6 minutes.

The way he is playing right now will not translate to the nba. He will get eaten alive

got to disagree...he's perfect, all off no D. He'll have other pro's to pass to that will usually finish. I actually think he'll flourish in the nba.

Re: >>>>>Oklahoma [16-8, 6-6] vs. Texas Texas [21-4, 9-3] Game Thread<<<<<

Its just dumb.. hes a PG. PG turns over the ball the most.. and hes a freshman and hes leading the nation in scoring and assists...

Yes but after tonight's game he has 332 assist and 134 TO's for a 1.69 A/TO Ratio which would rank at #224 in the nation. The NCAA only ranks 250 players. Not an enviable number for someone who lead the nation in assist. Prior to tonight game he had 26 more TO's than any of the other 250 participants listed. Only Trae 128 and another player 102 had more than 100 TO's.
