One explanation of why most people hate Dook

Duke sells more apparel than any other college in basketball so I'd say far from everyone hates them. Like most teams that win a ton they have there share of haters....but more bandwagon fans.

I grew up in Iowa, a Hawkeye fan. I've hate Duke ever since December 1992. Christian Laettner stomped on Chris Street's head in a tightly contested game between the Devils and the Hawkeyes. Two months later, Street, an All-American, died in a tragic car accident.

I hate Laettner and I hate Duke!

I wish that Butler shot (either one) had gone in.

Envy. Duke basketball has been consistently good for a long time. Many other basketball programs are not.

Clean. I cannot remember hearing about Duke basketball players getting in trouble for shop-lifting or similar nonsense.

Clean (part 2). I cannot remember hearing about the Duke basketball program being investigated from recruiting violations.

Stay. Duke basketball players tend to stay all 4 years.

College Spirit. Duke players tend to graduate.

Loyalty. Coach K has been there a long time.

It seems there are several explanations as to why Duke basketball should be admired. I hope Coach Capel, a former "Dookie," can get the Sooner program to follow a similar path.

Wouldn't it be great if people around the country hated OU basketball just like they hate Duke basketball? Works for me.

I think a Facebook friend summed it up nicely: hearing that Duke won the NCAA Tournament is like hearing that Bill Gates won the lottery. :)
