Shot blocker. It was layup drill for them all night. The only guy that ever even comes over from the weak side is Cade and he is no shot blocker. If nothing else, I hope Goff can fill that role. With Hardrick likely gone, I would go sign another one.

The team has lots of weaknesses obviously, but the lack of a shot blocker kills them the most because they give up layups all the time.

We need Jabari Brown!

I agree. Better on the ball pressure would help as well. Our off the ball defenders need to commit to helping and recovering better. That is one glaring weakness that I have seen since JC arrived. OUr guys don't help and recover aggressively enough. Even without a shot blocker, we should at least have off the ball defenders taking charges, not just watching guys lay the ball up.

This is where a guy like Aziz would have helped immensely. If Goff can't fill that role, we're just going to be in the same boat again next year. Heck one could say we are losing the best shot blocker on the team (Cade). lol

We do need a true inside presence on defense that can intimidate by blocking shots and getting rebounds. However, we are so very bad at the PG, IMO, this is our biggest weakness. Blair was so exposed last night as the D-III PG that he is; was almost embarrassing.

I just can't imagine Guerrero is not an improvement right now over Blair, so we really need him or anyone that is an upgrade. Take the Bob Stoops approach, who signs multiple safeties and corner backs each spring. We need to start signing 2 PG's every year and at some point we will find a good one and have some depth at that position.

I don't understand why people are so hard on Blair. Do I think he should be a 35 minute per game player in this conference? No I don't. Do I think he is more than capable of being a solid backup? Yes I do. The guy has done some nice things in some of our conference wins this year.

I don't understand the hate for Blair either. He's essentially a freshman point guard. Of course he's going to struggle against more experienced players. He's the only player we have who will take the ball to the rim. He has a lot of potential, he will have bumps in the road but will only improve with time

Let's wait and see how he does vs Mizzou before we defend him. Fact is, he played poorly vs OSU and last night. He's a decent player, but he's not a big 12 starter, IMO. I am afraid Mizzou is going to make him look really bad.

Well to be fair you said he was a "D-III point guard". You didn't just say he wasn't a big 12 starter.

I remember a lot of people saying the same things about Austin Johnson, David Godbold and Taylor Griffin as well.

Blair is catching too much grief. He is a liability on defense right now. His letting Balbay run the length of the court for two successive layups was very weak. But no one else stepped in front of him either.

On another thread some guy was calling Blair a turnover machine. That was just an emotional reaction without the facts. Blair had 1 turnover during the game. He had 5 assists. That is a great statistic.

Our entire team had only 8 turnovers against Texas. Our guys are getting better.

One guy who can and should be blocking more shots from weak side help is Cam Clark. He's done it a few times, needs to do it more.
