OSU opinions of Ford vs. Kruger

Do you think OU or OSU has the more talented personnel?

I like OUs personnel but if you were to take the top 5 of each team and pick the 5 best, you have to include Smart, Clark, Spangler, Brown and Nash as the best 5. To me, OSU has a more talented roster than OU and that's no disrespect to OU at all.

Thoughts?

LOL. I used the word "quality" instead of "talented" for a reason.

I think Buddy & Woodard are both better basketball players than Nash & a toss up vs Brown. They are also both more intelligent than Smart.

Yeah, they were really hammering on Ford during their Monday loss, but that's par for the course whenever OSU loses. Sometimes when they don't win by enough either ;)

At least one poster was wondering if they could hire Lon away from OU. I'd like to think that if Ford's 10-year contract (HAHAHAHAHAHA) was about to come due or they just want to rip it up and try again that they'd just hire Eddie back.*

*No seriously, they were suggesting this a lot in the second half. They want Eddie back, would Eddie come back if asked, could he just Skype some playcalling in from the comfort of his own home, EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE.

Nash has more ability than either Buddy and Woodard and he has more height, he's just a little lazy and he's not getting good coaching.

Put him on Kruger, Self, or Hoiberg's team and he's all big 12 material if not POY most years.

more intelligent than Smart

That's the type of education you get at OU: There's smart, and then there's more intelligent than smart! :D

Nash is taller but that's it. Woodard leads the Big XII in free throws made as a true freshman. He won the high school state championship last year on 1 leg by getting an offensive board & put back. He just scored 18 in his first Bedlam game.

Woodard is very underrated due to his height.

In conference games Buddy is 5th in scoring, 6th in FG % & 1st in 3 pointers made. Let's not sell him short either.

I agree with you 100% on Woodard, he is a fantastic player. I just think Nash has more raw talent and ability and part of that is because he is 6'7". Put him on our team and he would be all big 12.

Agree. Buddy's not a very good ball handler nor is he a great shooter. He is a scorer though, a relentless defender and he has a knack for the ball.

put him on OU and he doesn't start

This is not true. Nash doesn't shoot well, is sloppy with the ball, and is not a good passer. One on one he's a good player, but both Buddy and Woodard have better basketball skill sets.

I think Nash was overrated by the recruiting services. He's a good player, no doubt, but he's just not a 5 star talent. His upside is probably what we're getting from Clark or a tad less.

It isn't that "he isn't a five-star talent," it's that recruiting service don't know what they are doing and there is no such thing as some-number-of-stars talents. They may have actually gotten worse as AAU has gotten bigger. All they see are stat lines in games that don't matter played 4 at time. In my opinion, it isn't so much that they got him wrong, but that they mostly get it wrong. You'll also notice recruits rankings go up as they get better offers or commit to blue blood schools. It isn't because that player got better, it's that Scout and Rivals are selling a bridge. That's just my opinion.

All of these are fixable. His shooting would be improved if he knew which shots were better shots for him to take and if his coach helped him understand that. Case in point, he shouldn't be shooting 3's.

Maybe I'm wrong and I mean no slight to Buddy or Woodard.

You might be right or maybe he has the talent but nothing between the ears which is how it appears to me.
