Mike Sherman: #OKState slashing season ticket prices for college basketball. $300 price cut in the 300 level. Good move.

How the heck much were upper deck seats that they can cut prices that much?

Their ticket prices are/were completely absurd. OU football esque

It would be nice if we slashed our student season ticket prices...

A friend of mine is a big OSU fan. She used to attend 6-8 games per year or more, but she said the ticket prices priced her out of going unless she can get a good deal, like free.

She said the nosebleeds were $50 per seat per game.

T Bone must be gettin' ready to donate some more money. They are cuttin' prices, announced they're are FINALLY going to build an IPF, albeit way scaled down from the monstrosity they had initially planned and T Bone blew all the money for!!! What's T Bone gonna do after we build this housing center???

They haven't been bad at all the past two years. Holder's been doing $10 reserve tickets for all but the premier games. They've done the family packs, the free tshirts, the scooters etc...

Seriously? They are pretty much free if you use your ticket or have somebody else use them. This is a BS excuse for students

Or the hedge fund might be improving its performance. That is the true shame for other oSu donors, they had their money get put into the hedge fund as well....right before it tanked. I respect the way our University is run, nothing flashy or press grabbing, but we don't announce that we are doing something until it is a done deal.

There is no more hedge fund. The hedge fund was "called in" once the market tanked and the hedge fund was on the wrong side.

Holder is a money hungry whore, I wouldn't be surprised if he started charging players for their seats on the bench.

LOL.

Incorrect.

The funds were invested in BP Capital Fund, a fund that is tied to the energy market.

So, when the global financial collapse happened, and global energy commodity prices fell about 60-70%... yeah... the fund took a bit of a hit. :)

However, I don't know if you've cracked a newspaper in the past 18 months, but energy prices are once again... ummm... strong. So how do you think money that's invested in an energy-focused fund is doing right now?

They are not really reducing the cost of tickets. They are cutting the prices in half but doubling the donation required. It's more or less a wash but seems like they are helping fans to people looking in from the outside.

That's not (totally) correct. The 300 section has a tiered donation system, depending on where you sit. If you're in the "good" 300 seats (closer to center court, first few rows), then yes... it's mostly a wash... they guy in the thread that you linked sits in the lower level of section 304... that's almost mid-court.

However, everyone else... or 70-80% of the 300 section... will have cheaper tickets overall... especially when you get about half-way up and in the corners. They will have it significantly cheaper.

Holder is a money hungry whore,

Yes... Joe C and David Boren just despise money, right?

Give me a break.

Granted, I'm now an old man, but when I was at OU ('95-'99), a season ticket to the basketball games was $35. What is it now?

My sister in law bought them a couple years ago and I think she said they were 85, but she went to every game or gave it to a bud and ended up getting money back.

Every AD & President in the country tries to increase donations and revenue, but most restrain themselves from completely screwing over their fan base in the process. If you like Holder, that's fine, he is your AD.

If you go to all the games or get someone to use your tickets for you (that's what I do over winter break), they're free...just saying.

I would like to see OU get the alumni to donate money so they are free. I am sure they could get it done if they wanted to. I would pay for one and I think a few thousand other alumni would pay for a student ticket every season.

What do they currently cost?
