I know Mike Houck tweeted that, but I'm not sure it's accurate. According to soonerstats.com, on Feb. 22, 1989, OU played K-State in Norman as the #1 team. I'm assuming soonerstats uses the AP rankings, especially from that time period as I'm not certain there was another relevant poll back then.

I'm pretty sure the coaches' poll existed back then.

Just looked it up and we definitely hosted that game as AP #1.
