OU 18-11 against the #4 SOS in the country

There is a component in the NET that accounts for point differential in wins/losses (but not sure how substantial that component is). Both WV and Tech have blown teams out more than we have this year. Not to mention we had some close calls in the non-con against teams we should've beaten worse (UCF, W&M). Also as a whole, WV and Tech's losses have been closer in margin than ours. I think primarily what is holding OU back in the NET a bit is that we lost by double-digits at KSU, at ISU, and at OSU. But like you, I seriously question the gap between WV, Tech, and OU. Not sure if I'm missing something.

Those two teams....along with Arizona tend to be over-ranked in the NET. Believe it or not, we actually have a better resume than Arizona as far as Quadrant wins and losses, but yet they are #10 in the NET. I'm dumbfounded by their ranking.

Obviously, this ranking system has pitfalls.

Thanks, that makes sense -- I know margin factors in, but like you, am surprised it seems to be making that big a difference!

No chance for 3rd with a Taco Tech win against Baylor. Still would be great to have a chance for 4th if that is what is left for us. Beat Texa$$

Not always great basketball but a fun competitive game to watch tonight with 2 good defensive teams going at it.

I would call both of those defenses "elite". But the offensive execution for both teams....not so much.

Amazing that we can finish at 5th at worst! We can be alone at 3rd with a couple wins and a KU win vs Tech.

win tonight and OU ou likely clinches 3rd at worst (tech is not winning vs KU )

I think I'd accept 4th if it meant KU finished 2nd. Either way it's a matchup with Baylor in the semifinals if OU can somehow win a game in KC.

this is why making the dance is a big deal because it is not that easy to do

"OU has reached the Big Dance six times since 2013. Duke, Kansas, Michigan State, North Carolina and Villanova are the only major-conference schools who have made it to more NCAA Tournaments in that span."

For KU to finish second, they would have to lose both remaining games and Baylor would have to win Saturday. I would say the chances of that happening are as close to zero as possible.

If KU were to lose Saturday at Tech and Baylor were to win in Morgantown, then Baylor would actually win the tie-breaker and be the #1 seed in KC. If you asked me, I would much rather play Baylor in the semis than KU.

But if Tech wins, they would have all the tie-breakers and end up as the #3 seed anyway. In that case the best we could do is 4th in KC.

Good catch, thanks for correcting me on that!

I’d say almost all of college b-ball fans and the majority of OU fans don’t know this.

expanding it to all teams only adds the Zags and Cincy

and clearly UNC will drop off after this year so

there would only be duke ku msu and nova as major conf teams .. (power 5 + Big East)

Or, if they know, it still doesn't satisfy them because in a couple years, we allegedly "barely" made it.

What's interesting is how many times posters have compared us unfavorably to other programs over the past few years. Almost without exception, those comparisons come when a certain program has a very good/great season or two. But when those teams crater, no one revisits the issue.

its an absolutely devastating fact for the anti-Lons and anti-OU people.

Hell its mind blowing to me and I lean sunshine pumper.
