OU Announces That Sherri Has Retired

I didn't expect that. Does Stiles get a look? I can't imagine Sherri brings Courtney in as a coach if she isn't expected to get a shot at staying. Whoever is hired would have to keep her. I think Stiles might be the pick.

This is going to be fun. I am anxious to see who they hire as a replacement. If it is Stiles I wonder if she will keep Sherri's son. Maybe that was part of the deal to get her to step down. (Just speculating, who knows.)
 
Maybe took a year or two too long, but it's nice she retired and OU didn't need to fire her or "mutually part ways". At least publicly
 
Hopefully we can find a coach who will come in and get the best talent out of our kids... Coale will be missed, I wonder if Dionnah Jackson-Durrett would be considered, I’m not sure she’s ready, but Georgia took a chance on a young up and coming coach and it paid off... I’m not sure if a West Moore, or Scott Reuck would take the OU job... 1st order of business is getting Madi Williams to remain at OU.
 
This is great news! I certainly hope whoever they bring in is good and we see immediate results, namely someone that believes in recruiting/brings in some talent!

I hope CP3 and Stiles get to stay, if they want, and Junior is gone. I'm worried about transfers at this point. Tech had an abysmal season under their new head coach, so I hope that isn't the case for us. We certainly can't get much worse. I think with our players all being veterans at this point SC was running out of excuses and just didn't have any fire left in her. I'm glad she made the right decision because it seems our AD wasn't man enough to pull the plug. Super exciting times, I hope they bring in someone with experience that we can get excited about, like UT did with Schaeffer.

Stiles get no consideration. Her alma mater Missouri State would not hire her when their job became available and she was on staff. Nor will Joe C. and OU.

Now we just have to hope Joe C. does his job and hires a young, aggressive, successful successor. I not certain I want to see them hire an assistant coach with previous OU connections as an assistant brings too much risk being an unproven head coach something OU can ill afford.

OU was paying Sherri $1.1 million plus which was a top 5 type salary nationally. For that money and maybe a few $100K less Joe C. should be able to hire any coach in the country that he really wants.
 
We also need to see if our 4 2021 signees will stick with OU...
 
If Joe C. handles this like he has most of his hires there won't be any leaks as to who he is interested in until it's a done deal.
 
What an amazing run. Didn't end the last couple years like you would have wanted, but still - a phenomenal tenure. Enjoyed following her program. In the last few years, I think she struggled to recruit the players who could truly embrace her system. I still believe in her system, though, and for the players who bought in, it will pay dividends. Her best teams were incredible offensively and impossible to guard. She is one of the best offensive minds in the game of basketball.

I wouldn't care if the entire staff was gone if I were to keep one I guess it would be CP but not as head coach

I don’t care about their religion, just be able to recruit some D1 level players.
