OU at Texas

Morgan and Aaryn are the best 2 players at OU. Hook has great size and is a real point guard. People should remember that Aaryn was also a point guard coming out of high school, but Sherri needed her to score so she moved her off the ball, also Morgan was good and needed to be on the floor by her sophomore year or Sherri could have moved Aaryn back to point guard her sophomore year. One thing Sherri could think about changing is the 4 guard line up she's been using this year (5 guard depending on what Griffin will give you because 1 rebound from your 6'6 center isn't a good sign) only 2 other teams in the big 12 use that type of line up, one is at the top of the conference and the other is 0-2 in big 12 play. The big 12 is a big league and it seems like the team with the best post player will win the league year in and year out. Kornet has good size but shes still a guard, same with Campbell and Carter thats the real reason we have been getting beat up on the boards. Griffin hasn't done anything since shes been at OU, she played in the shadow of Griner for her 1st 3 years now its Christofferson. I was high on Kellogg and thought she should get more time but after seeing last nights replay she looked lost and isn't ready this year I don't think, she's also a player that's not shooting. Other then Aaryn and Morgan OU needs a player that will take double digit shots even if shes not hitting, at lest trying to score (could we use Courtney Walker right now or what) no one else took 10 shots last night. I know Syabrite wasn't impressed by Kai James now at FSU but if nothing else she could have pushed Griffin who looks to be starting only because there's no one else to start, I don't think she's earned it. Next season OU will get a floor leader in Ortiz, as good as Aaryn is shes not a "talker" on the floor, shes more of a lead by example type of player. Ortiz is a small guard 5'3 maybe but she's avg 5 rebounds, and Pierre-Louis and Penzo at 12 and 5 rebounds respectively. I know Sherri is high on Carter but played 27 minutes last night and didn't take a single shot, Wyatt could have gotten some of carter's minutes.

You undersell Griffin, but that won't change.

Kai James may end up being good. But, she was more like Cerena when she played against Kellogg, someone with size who didn't know how to use it. She is doing OK at FSU as I understand.

Vegas may have been a point in HS, but she has never been sufficiently adequate as a ball handler at OU to be a point. She is best as a spot shooter. I haven't decided how good she is as a short jump shooter. She seems to miss a lot of those at critical times. She is good if we use her properly.

Morgan is the only ball handler that we have. Carter isn't bad. Derica seems OK. Those are the only three we have this year who are handlers.

I'm not sure what the situation was with Carter yesterday. She was less forceful than she has been.

I've been waiting on her to really have a break out season and she hasn't, maybe I expect her to dominate but I'm sure I'm not the only fan here that feels this way.

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. That's what is wrong this team. Stupid passes, not using their body to protect the ball, predictable moves. Every mistake you can make. Sherry needs to make it clear, 7 will play and turnovers will send you to the bench. Accountability will reinforce learning.

Hey Sooner Cal its Sherri not Sherry, just a heads up posters on here get pretty upset about that here.

Actually, Morgan is a point guard and has been one most of her career from what I know about her. Two time Gatorade POY and Arkansas Miss Basketball as a PG. Read she was recurited by most Big 12 including A&M, SEC, ACC, and Big East teams as a PG. Can't believe she is a senior and people on here still know very little about her. Kind of speaks to what true fans we have on here.

However, people on this site love to blame and act like they know what the are talking about when really they have no clue. Like comments that she is exposed against better athletes. Seems in the Duke came she was the one rising to the occassion and out played the so called All American PG from Duke. What about Louisville, read a comment from the Louisville coach after the game that she was truely one of the top 3 PG's they have ever played against. Oh, then there is the Iowa State game just the other day. The only thing she didn't do well at Texas was make shots. Was 2 for 10. Prior to that she was shooting just over 50% from the field. As a PG she also makes sure everyone is involved. At times passes up her own shot (too often) to make sure she gets it to the person that is hot or makes sure the post get a touch. As Dan Hughes said on one of the games I was watching is she is a tremendous leader and has full control of the team directing them. One of the best PG's in country and he would know. You often see her making switches because of what she sees the defense doing. From what I have seen probably the highest basketball IQ ever at OU.

Leadership...Really are you not watching the games? She is constently coaching her teammates on the court, pulls them together for instructions, gets on them to perform, have seen her grap Griffin's jerseys and strong encourage her to rebound, celebrates with emotion, and coaches them in timeouts before coach gets there. She is and has been the leader of this team for a couple of years on the court. Players listen and respect her as you see them shake their heads and understand. Want to talk lead by example...she has been playing hurt from the beginning of the season, goes all out all the time, and never quits or lays down. Does she make mistakes, absolutely. Every player and coach does at every level and they always will, is part of the game.

Can she stop others from doing bad things...no. She can coach them, lead them, motivate them, but she cannot play for them.

Interesting and we have seen this time and time again over the past 3 years, when she comes off the court the offense gets in total disarray. Think that says a lot. But again many who post on this site don't even watch the games on TV or come to them. They act like they know something but really only show their stupidity.

So start supporting the team and quit berrating ALL of our players or take your cancerous attitude elsewhere...we don't need you at OU!!

Super post!!!

:clap:clap:clap

That same Duke team that came in and beat us 94-85 when we didn't wake up until halftime just wiped out Syracuse, who thought they were pretty good, 86-53, Strange year: LSU wins at Tennessee, Florida wins at Kentucky.

After the NIT, I felt really good about this team. Usually, OU doesn't do all that well early in the season. We had played some good teams and lost one in OT to a pretty fair team in a game that we should have won. I had seen what I thought were the pieces to a Final Four run.

I don't know how far I have backed away from that. If we could get our heads on straight, I think we still have the pieces. But:

Vegas has to be a threat in every game.

Carter needs to learn which shots she can hit and which passes work.

Morgan needs not to get too emotional during a game. Also, don't try to carry the team.

Sharane needs to get to the rim or pass off. Next year, learn a fifteen foot jump shot.

Griffin needs to wake up before being told at halftime. She is still pretty tough to stop when she goes to the basket, and she has those long arms on defense.

Kornet-----relax and get after it. Don't back off. You were a shooter in HS.

Kay Kay---Never slap at anything, not even a fly that lands on your nose. Shoot softly and carry a big block out.

Derica---it is OK to shoot, but don't stand there waiting for the ball. Move around more and find a spot that is open. Follow your shot. You are the best on the team at putting back a short jumper.

Shaya----a forward position is there for someone who wants to rebound.

The pieces are still there. I don't think they have gotten worse. But, they have lost their direction.
