Ou-bu

Actually, I think the officials may well define Baylor's game. I don't know how good they really are since I don't see Baylor called the way they should be. I think they are probably about ten points better than us in a properly called game. I do question whether they can beat UConn with a legitimately called game. I thought they called Dolson for some bad fouls in their game.

What I do like about Baylor is that they take advantage of mistakes. If you don't get back, they make you pay for it. They usually hit their layups, and they use the board well when under pressure. We don't get a lot of baskets using the board. Baylor does.

Era for era: I think a couple of the UConn teams were better than this, and they were recruited legitimately. I would just feel a lot better about Baylor if they had any integrity. I really liked them after the 2005 title. This one---I'm sorry, but I don't recognize this team.

There was one play tonight that just epitomized my disgust with officials and their tendency to call what they think happened rather than reality. If you have the game taped, look at one play by Hook.

Hook dribbles along the baseline, coming under the basket and putting the ball up from the right side of the basket. Griner comes over and "blocks" the ball. No foul.

Griner moved into Hook, catching her first with the body. Then, she was so close to Hook that she caught Hook with the tricep on the wrist as Morgan put the ball up. This deflected Morgan's wrist just enough that, still in the same motion, Griner hit her a third time with the wrist on the back of Morgan's hand and wrist. This is what has been happening for four years. Griner hits with everything, but is given credit for a clean block.
If you say so. And how do you evaluate the action when Griner was called for that second foul? I could see nothing but wide open spaces between Griner and Ellenberg.

'Too bad you're so hung up in the past to acknowledge this outstanding Baylor team. If I were the OU athletic director, I would have called for a "Brittney Griner Night" to honor her achievements on her last regular-season game in Norman.

I'm sure if Baylor had done that for CP, we would have done that for Griner.

That's insane! That's even worse that Dick Vitale claiming that the OU fans should have given Danny Manning a standing O when he fouled out of the game in Norman in '88. Any sane OU fan probably would have preferred the middle finger to Saint Danny instead.

I have to agree that Baylor is probably the best women's team in the history of the game. They have the best center to ever play the game. They have one of the top point guards in the country, they get after people on defense, and they get plenty of scoring from their bench. That doesn't mean they can't get beat...they might. But, if they play really well, it would take a great effort by UCONN or Notre Dame to send them home.

As far as OU sponsoring an appreciation night for Griner...NO, AIN'T EVER GONNA HAPPEN.

I'll assume you mean Griffin instead of Ellenburg if you're talking about Griner's second foul. The announcers focused on what they had video of, which was Griner shooting. The whistle wasn't blown until after the ball had hit the rim, so my assumption is that the foul was when Griffin was blocking out Griner, not on the shot. There was no video shown for that.

I can think of a few ways to send her off... this is actually a very fun idea. I'll have to do something the week of the Big 12 tourney.

:D

If that statement in bold is true, then OU should have no problem making the Final Four this year.
