So of you people are hilarious. Is this your first thought? Why don't you have this thought after any of the losses? OK, for some serious thought...

Things are adjusting to the mean in the Big 12. We were due for a clunker. Time to refocus, because there is a lot to learn from this game. If we play with anything close to the defensive intensity that Tech brought tonight, along with our usual offense, we will finish with a VERY impressive record.

This team is better than any of us thought, but this was still to be a growing year. These guys are going to be big time for the next two seasons. Enjoy the process.

As we have all commented at different times this year, this team needs to improve on defense. This is a very young team and sometimes young teams have to learn lessons the hard way.

I think they lost due to poor shooting and turn overs more than massive defensive lapses. Yes Tech broke the press some in the first half but that is not why OU lost. If Buddy shoots his normal percentage OU actually wins the game.

So it's alright to praise this team when they have a great win , but a bad loss and better keep quiet?
Tech is not a good team , they have a losing record in the big 12 for a reason . I want our program to get back national status , and being alright with losing to bad teams at home is no way to do it .
If we want to get back to a conference contender you can't give up home games, simple as that .
Our issues right now are much deeper then not coming to play , our MVP Spangler is a shadow of himself right now . Our pg is a turnover machine and seems to be getting worse the last few games . Clark and buddy are either all or nothing .
We need some consistency and to me a little more urgency / fire .
Maybe this loss will wake this team up and get them back to the play that landed th in the upper end of the conference . Regardless there is no way to spin this loss , even with theist bias ou fan.

That might be true, but playing tough defense can make up for a lot when the offense isn't clicking.

I know most of you don't care, but I hate losing to those Tortillas worse than any team except Texas. I can't believe OU allowed that team to come into Lloyd Noble and beat us. I love sweeping them. Of course, I figured the difficult part of that was taken care of in Lubbock.

I couldn't watch the game. Was OU that bad inside? Where was Spangler? I saw he had six rebounds, which is pretty low for him. And I guess now that this has been exposed, what is OU going to do in the future to have any kind of inside presence? Hope Lattin gains 40 pounds and develops a back to the basket game? I've heard people speak of Kruger's philosophy as being "wing-oriented" which is fine. BUt what about games like last night when the outside shots aren't falling? I don't know, I'm asking. In Kruger's history has he ever developed quality bigs and had an above average inside/out game? It seems that like in football with running/passing balance, that is really the only way to match up with all different types of quality teams, and go as far as we want the program to go.... Very disappointing game.

As to the OP, people will come here to vent frustration. It in no way means they don't support the team or do they mean to outwardly bash the players.

If you don't like what you're reading after we lose, especially games like last night, I suggest you avoid the board after losses.

That's what I do. It works for me.

Speaking for myself, I don't have a problem with people showing up to vent after a loss. I have been a regular on this and several other OU basketball boards for a long time, so it's something I have come to expect.

What I don't like is that some of the people who show up after a loss rarely, if ever, have anything to say when the team is doing well. Help me to understand that and I'll feel a lot better about the posters who are only here when the team loses.

amen!

I don't know what the hell that was last night, but I know that wasn't the same team I've been watching over the past 2 1/2 months. They are much, much, much better than this and I don't think they'll shoot that bad and be that careless with the ball the rest of the year so you won't be seeing any bashing coming from my direction.

We had a bad shooting night. From the field and from the line. That's all. That doesn't mean the guys were goofing off or dumping the game.

Tech is an improving team. Tubby is a very good coach and you have to be on your game or he will get you. You have to give the other team credit once in a while.

And maybe some of the guys have been reading their press clippings a little too much. Young guys do that sometimes.

But I saw no reason to be embarrassed. Or no reason to trash the players. Or to bring out the same old excuses when we lose, like terrible defense every time someone makes a trey or scores on a good drive. That happens to every team's defense. Tech was on with their shooting and got some good bounces.

We got a couple of bad calls at crucial times as well. Like the time Cousins got a clean block and was called for a foul or the time when we had it down to three and tried the lob but the man who was supposed to catch the lob was undercut seriously by the Tech defender. Those two calls go our way and we may have pulled it out.

We are not a top 10 and maybe not a top 20 team yet. And even those teams lose games they should win.

I like this team and they are doing pretty well in a rebuilding year. There are going to be some rough spots and last night was certainly one of them.
