**********OU-Kansas Game Thread**********

I will say that our defense was very good tonight and much better than I thought. I realize we gave up a lot of points but I though the effort was good on both ends.

Our help defense has improved a lot over these past couple of games, KU made a lot of shots tonight.

I want a shot at them in Kansas City with a neutral officiating crew and that one guy halfway across the country so he cant call a breathing foul on OU

Kansas took 10 more free throws and made 11 more than us. That is the ball game right there

Great effort to keep coming back time after time. Really wish Spangler would have completed the 4 point play on the takedown after Woodard's wraparound. Could have been a turning point in the game.

Beat Texas!

Great effort! Play like that the rest of the season and we've got a lot of W's waiting for us.

Yep....and my issue is not so much with the officials tonight. Kansas doesn't get all of the calls all of the time, but they do tend to get the majority of calls (and no-calls) in their favor when the game is on the line and/or crunch time.

The guys played hard and fought almost all of the night. The 3 minutes to start the game and the end of the half killed us. Gotta keep getting better.

This. I thought this was the best officiated game I've seen in Lawrence in a while. That's not to say it was good. It just wasn't as bad as normal.

I think if we play that well in Norman, we split this year.

I love Spangler, and a couple of his free throw misses were in and out and in and then out - - tough. But his missed first one of a one and one and then another miss a few minutes later seriously hurt our chances to stay even with KU.
If he hits the two free throws out of the timeout, we are ahead by one. Then he missed the second of two that would have kept us within 2.

Oh well, good game guys. It is always tough to win at Allen Fieldhouse, the Hawks always get more than their share of home cookin'...

I wouldn't count intentionally fouling at the end of the game, that has nothing to do with the refs.

OU didn't play well enough over the 40 minutes to win, KU didn't play well either, but they have more talent and in the end they can get by.

Good showing, take care of business this weekend.

I wasn't close enough to the TV to really tell, but it looked like KU was banging us around the whole game and we were getting called on almost every miss by them no matter how much contact.

Neither team played very well, it was a grinder.

KU is just too deep and too talented, it takes a great effort to win at Allen.

I liked LK getting on Tom O'Neil, just to prove to his players he has their back. I thought the game was called pretty well except for that stretch of no-calls. KU took advantage like good teams do.

Sooners are not there but they aren't far off from being an upper echelon team.

Just too many guys for KU to give the ball to that can score. And give to those guys, they're great at winning time.

Officiating isn't even worth talking about. Anytime you go on the road you're likely to get screwed. I get mad at it in the moment, but ultimately you just have to hope it evens out when you're home, because it's not going to go your way too often other places.

How bout when Heild drove the lane to put up a shot and got hacked and thy hi down for a dunk. Even Brent the KU lover said it was a bad call. That was a 4 point turn.

Didn't think the officiating was that bad. At least fir ku stabdards

I didnt like the officiating, but wont say it was the deciding factor for the game.

We're getting better. Measuring ourselves against a very talented KU team is a good yardstick. KU didn't play that well but OU had something to do with that. We outscored them in the second half and just gave up one run too many in the first.

Things are looking bright.

Ugh. That forced LONG 2 by Spangler over Embiid, and the ensuing run out for a 3 was crippling. Just an awful decision in an otherwise great game from Ryan.

Just couldn't get any stops down the stretch after that play pushed it out to 8 with a couple minutes left.

Yes, that was a BIG 5 point swing there, and probably the turning point. I love this team. I think, if we fire on all cylinders, are a sweet 16 team.

I agree. If we played well in the last 2 or 3 minutes of the first half we might have won this thing.
