Aren't games with Kansas State always ugly? They scratch and claw for every ball at every point. When Romero grows up, they should be pretty good.

Griffin did well. I liked Vegas better tonight than against Texas. Fewer points, but she made some plays and got some key points. Sharane came on late with some energy and hit some jumpers. That has been missing from her arsenal this year. She looked so good on them.

We kept getting rebounds, but losing them as K-State scratched at them. Funny how that is permitted.

Not Morgan's best game. I don't think she should have committed one foul. Seemed to be frustration every time. She had some turnovers tonight.

I thought we got some good minutes out of Shaya. Gioya seemed off. Does Wyatt make mistakes? Shaya and Derica don't get us beat. They may not do enough, but they don't screw up.

I couldn't tell much about the team tonight. But, they won, and the game was never really in doubt.

Just before the game, I watched a HS game: Monteverde vs Oak Ridge. Monteverde has eight D-1 signees or commitments. I don't remember where, but two were to LSU, one to Virginia Tech, one to Ohio State. Oak Ridge had a couple. But, it was a complete rout, something like 100-58.

They said that Monteverde had students from 27 states (I think) and 40 countries. It looks like all were recruited to play basketball. They were #1 in the nation last year and still have it this year.

I wonder if the women's team is the same way. Is that why Penzo went to Monteverde? Basketball factory?

On Friday, I watched a video of Toby interviewing Sherry on Thursday, I believe. She said the biggest problem the team has been having lately is that they are playing too tight - my phrase would be wound up tighter than a $2.00 watch.

Morgan has to stop getting herself in foul trouble. We handled it OK tonight, but it could be a disaster in other games.

Liked what I saw from Kellog and Wyatt tonight.

Campbell finally got going, as Syb noted, on her mid-range jumper. She is scrappy and the toughest player on the team.

Proud of Griffin tonight. Now, if she would just do that every night.

Kornet played some tough defense, but that girl just can't shoot. She is an offensive liability.

I thought Edwards played better than Carter.

Kay-Kay was nothing great. At least she didn't blow more than a couple of layups.

Morgan was just bad. When is Sherri going to convince her she has to shoot more -- not that she could have made them last night. She dribbled right into a double team half a dozen times. Turnover queen last night. She is really struggling. I think it's all mental. She's probably playing her last year of competitive basketball and I'm sure she's upset about it. That's probably is her problem. At least a big part of it.

Well it's a win that we needed badly. Let's hope the girls can make something happen next week. Two tough road games out there. We could be out of the Big 12 race if we don't win at least one -- no, we need to win both or we're probably out of contention.

But even bad, Morgan is still the most effective point guard. We were up 14 when she went out with 4 fouls, up 8 when she came back in, up 11 at the end of the game.

Kellogg was always moving her feet on defense. There was no playing defense flat footed with her. Her high school coach must have really emphasized that.

The next two road games will tell us a lot about this team. Two wins would be outstanding. One win would be good. Two losses would be bad.
