I ran the stats from OU's first game through the statistical plus/minus estimator. This system provides a decent way of measuring a player's overall contribution to the final point margin, in actual points above the average player playing in that game. In other words, if all else on both teams were equal, Willie's team would have won by 14 based on his contributions.

For OU:
Code:
Player SPM	Min	Contribution
Warren, Willie 17.2	32	13.8
Gallon, Tiny 21.1	22	11.6
Pledger, Steven 5.0	19	2.4
Fitzgerald, Andrew	1.2	26	0.8
Davis, Cade -0.6	7	-0.1
Willis, Ray -0.4	10	-0.1
Hardrick, Kyle -5.6	2	-0.3
Franklin, T.J. -6.2	2	-0.3
Mason-Griffin, Tommy	-1.4	30	-1.0
Allen, Orlando -10.3	6	-1.5
Gerber, Beau -58.7	2	-2.9
Crocker, Tony -7.3	20	-3.6
Wright, Ryan -12.0	22	-6.6
(SPM is in point margin/40min)

:williew Warren and :tiny Gallon were the stars. They did something of everything, providing value all over the court--points, assists, rebounds, defense. Pledger also provided quite a bit of value, but only did it in shooting. He failed to record an assist and only got 1 rebound in 19 minutes on the court. Crocker and Wright had bad games; lack of points and turnovers hampered them. TMG has done better; he shot poorly and had a rather quite game otherwise.

For the opposition, both Jean Cajou and Kelly Beidler had good games, showing a positive SPM despite the loss. Cajou shot efficiently and did some good things; Beidler played solid across the board (recording 1 block and 4 steals).

Going to need to be better, going forward.

I have a feeling Crocker is going to leave OU as one of the most disappointing guards in the last decade or so. Guy just can't put it together consistently. Needs to make sure he brings the defense every night though, he can help out with that.

Nope...he threw the ally opp to tiny at the end of the game...So pledger had "1" assist

I'm using the official SoonerSports box score. That would make a pretty decent difference in Pledger's SPM; a big part of the weighting is actually the Versatility Index, which is (pts/40*ast/40*reb/40)^1/3; Pledger had a 0 because of no assists being recorded. His SPM would jump up to 12 if he did have an assist (which would translate to 2.1 assists/40 minutes because of his minutes played).
