OU offered Missouri SG Drew Lock

For what it's worth, many consider him a heavy MU lean. He has offers from MU in both sports, and I believe he's someone who would like to play both.

In other news, Mizzou remains in the SEC and it's still hard to believe on a few different levels. What a stupid decision (not talking smack, Sawyer, I genuinely believe that).

I miss the old Big 12 but I really miss the old Big 8. Raycom Saturdays.

If he wants to play both sports, he will not be going to OU.

For anyone who might disagree with that observation, show me just one OU football player who has also played basketball in the Stoops era. Remember, I said basketball, not baseball.

He is from my alma mater and I have good friends who know his family well. His dad played at MU so they will be a big player for sure along with the whole two sport carrot. I was told this weekend Notre Dame is very interested in him in football but he is appreciative of Coach Kruger being involved/interested in him early on.

Agreed.

Who was the last football/basketball player at OU. Dean Blevins?

I'm not sure. Dean sounds about right, though.

All I know is that there has been zero, zip, nada in the Bob Stoops era. Oh, Bob says he's in favor of letting a kid play both sports. But the proof is in the number of football players who have actually done that since he became the head coach.

Who is the last football player that could have helped OUs basketball team?

I believe the last OU football player who stepped onto the hardwood was Rickey Brady back in the early '90s.

Bob Stoops is on record saying that he would allow one of his football players to play basketball on one condition - that he be good enough to contribute on the court. He admitted that he wasn't interested in letting any of his players join the basketball team just so they could practice, travel and sit on the bench. Of course, that's his take "on the record." Those who believe he would never allow anyone to play hoops regardless of how good they are may be right. However, has there been any player in his era good enough to at least give us 10-12 minutes a game?

I doubt it. Bradford and Franks come to mind as the best 2 from the state.

Bradford is such a freak of nature. He could have played D-1 basketball, hockey or golfed. I think he was a 4.0 student. Tisdale was like that too. I don't know what kind of student Wayman was but he was a freak of nature in that he was a Grammy winning musician after retiring from the NBA. I suspect Wayman was a good student. Does anyone know?

Bradford may have started on some of Capel's teams. That isn't saying a lot though.

Demarco Murray was a pretty good basketball player. D1, contribute at OU good? I don't know. I think Tennell was a pretty good HS bball player too.

Bradford is also really good at golf, iirc.

I remember Stops saying once that if a defensive back wasn't good enough to make his high school basketball team, he didn't want him.

I don't think Bradford even made 3rd team all-state his senior year. He was pretty good but I don't think he was D-1 material.

I agree with those that basically say we haven't really had football players that can contribute at OU. Bradford might have been a good smaller college player and may have developed one day into a very good player. In HS he was probably a better basketball player than football player overall. Particularly his Sr year. He was a freakish athlete and that has obviously shown itself in the NFL though. I don't know if Franks or Murray start at a school like OU in basketball consistently either. Don't know much about this guy either.
