It's the first time in years that we play a big time Monday night game that means something to both teams. Everyone who loves college basketball will be watching this game tomorrow.

Seems like the last two years when we've been on the brink, we've taken a step back. Feels like this is our time to take a big step forward. Beat OSU.

I am so excited for this game, most excited I have been for a game since 1. SDSU game last year cause I thought we had a shot to win and go to sweet 16, and even further back, UNC elite 8 in 2009. Lets go boys!

There seems to be more excitement around this game, than there has been for any other OU MBB game that I can remember for some time. Noticing a lot of interest from places I don't normally see interest. Hope it it translates to the LNC (I'm sure it will).

StubHub is interesting:

A good number of prime courtside seats available at high prices. This is why you will see lots of orange close to courtside tonight.

:facepalm

NOTE: Section RE2 is the "visitors section" behind the visitors bench.

Considering there were 460 tickets there on Thursday then I think OU fans have done well. I don't think there will be many OSU fans there tonight.

I was trying to think... when was the last time both Bedlam teams were ranked?

Was it 2004-05 maybe? I know OSU was ranked that whole season, but couldn't remember if OU was. I'm thinking they probably were.

I think that was the year where OU opened up the game in Norman on like a 20-2 run or something like that?

The only other candidate is maybe 2009? OU was highly ranked all year. The 2009 OSU team made the tournament, but I don't think we were ever ranked, outside of maybe getting some votes or something. We might have been ranked for that last game of the year in Norman (we had won 6 straight games until that game) or maybe the Big 12 tournament game. Not sure/don't recall.

I asked a student to find student tickets to the game for me and a couple friend. This ahs never been a problem before, and I've always gotten tickets for extremely cheap. None to be found this time, which is bad news for me, but good news for the program. Shows that we can still get a crowd going for the big games if we have a good team.

You can get a $15 restricted admission ticket if you show up at 6:30 at the ticket office. You should find good seats.

According to this:http://www.soonerstats.com/basketball/men/opponents/details.cfm?OppID=2#.UuafEuB6i_E

It was 2005. Soonerstats.com is a great website. If you know of one like it for OSU, I would like the link.

I don't think we have anything like that.

Thanks for the link... I was just looking over the games of the Sutton/Sampson era of Bedlam basketball... those truly were the golden age of the rivalry.

Check this out - in the years from the 1994-95 season through the 2005-06 season, the longest stretch of games between the two teams that neither was ranked was 6 games, from the first meeting in the 1995-96 season through the last meeting in the 1997-98 season.

There was one other 2-game stretch in the 1999 season when neither team was ranked, but outside of those 8 games, at least one team was ranked.

So in the Sutton/Sampson era, which spanned 26 games over 12 seasons, one of us was ranked in 18 of the 26 (69%) games. Both teams were ranked in 10 of the 26 games (38%).

Contrast that to the fact that last year's game in Stillwater broke a streak of 8 consecutive games where neither team was ranked, dating back to the Big 12 tournament game in OKC during the 2009 season.

Since the Sutton/Sampson era ended, there have been 16 games. One of the two teams has been ranked in 6 of them (38%) and tonight will be the first where we are both ranked, so that stands at 0% until tonight.

So those numbers will rise to 41% of "at least one ranked" and 6% of "both ranked in the post-Sutton/Sampson era after tonight.
