OU vs Gonzaga

This was a good win. Impressed with the Zags. Poor shooting still plagues the Sooners. Need free throw shooting practice. Need rebounding practice.

We play Louisville Sunday so have to get ready for another tough team in a hurry.

We didn't shoot well from the FT line at all. They did, until the very end. I think they missed their last four free throws with the game on the line.

They are a good team. Some of the rebounds were just that the ball seemed to bounce over our heads to their girls who were about five feet further from the basket. Strange game that way.

The two foul calls on Griffin near the end of the game were rather absurd. One was a push to get open. That "push" was about the softest play I saw all night not sure that it was a push at all. In the other, they called Griffin, but she wasn't within five feet of the play. Sherri thought they had fouled Aaryn on a moving screen because she was the one on the floor. Griffin was about five to six feet inside the play. I don't know how they found her guilty of anything.

Sharane disappeared in the first half and bailed us out in the second.

Portia? I'd rather see Kellogg get a chance.

Some nice plays by Carter.

I think a lot of people on this broad owe Nicole G an apology

That was the worst officiating I've seen in quite a while. But we were able to pull it out in spite of it. Gonzaga is a very physical team. If I was starting an NFL team I'd draft #3 as my middle linebacker.

Does anyone know the extent of Morgan's injury?

There were bad calls both ways but the officiating did not advantage either team.

Attendance announced as 4,736. Need a big crowd for Louisville on Sunday.

Five Sooners in double figures, let by Vegas .. 21 points .. played all 40 minutes.

Ok then, whine time. A couple of observations.

1) this FT accuracy thing is just killing the Sooners .. it needs to improve and quickly. Forunately FTs is what ended up killing the Zags in the 2nd half and especially down the stretch.

2) Gioya (who I've complemented about her potential before) had a lot of errant passes tonight. Mostly being out-of-control speed-wise and trying to force them. Kinda reminds me of Drob when she was a frosh.

3) Kornet is just not working out at the 4. She just isn't a paricularly good rebounder either in blocking out or positioning. Not a very good leaper either. Against a four-guard offense, no prob and it makes sense. But against taller teams like the ones they faced tonite, IMO there should be a double post rotation of Nick, Kaylon, and Durrett. Kornet is much better as a wing. (not that my opinion really counts, but then it's mine and there it is)

I'm all for the new found idea for the officials to actually enforce the rules, but I'm not sure that officiating crew was ready for prime time.

Don't hold your breath on some people giving Nicole G any credit, Mark.

Zags coach said their first two games weren't called this close. Wondered if this were a Big Twelve thing.

Well, I will. Nicole came up huge tonight in crunch time!

On the bench they were working on Morgan's ankle. After the game on the radio Sherri said Morgan was "fine". My guess is she landed on a foot on that drive.

Good early season game and we made the key plays down the stretch. Teams are still figuring out the officiating but we have determined aggressive driving will get you to the foul line a bunch. I thought Carter's play in the second half was huge, really played well and I am very impressed with her athletic ability. We will have to shoot better vs Louisville.
