OU vs ksu 7pm CST on ESPN+

I feel like the new metrics reward mediocrity.

If you're a middle of the pack team in the league, which we are, then losing to the worst team in the conference is a bad loss. West Virginia is very good. They're pushing for a top-4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. K-State blew them out in Manhattan. That is a BAD loss for West Virginia, regardless of tiers or quadrants or dimensions or prisms.

I want to win tonight. Rare do we go on the road in the league as the better team, but tonight is one of those nights. It'll either be a good win or a bad loss, and some newfangled RPI or NET or CIA or MOAB or NORAD is going to have a hard time convincing me otherwise.

bad loss is a defined criteria by the selection committee .. specificly so emotion doesn't get in the way

per the criteria this can't be a "bad" loss ...

per someones feelings i guess it could be

A metric is only as good as it's design, and the NCAA's system is laughable. A loss at Kansas State is a bad loss. That shouldn't be obfuscated by the fact that there are 200 dreadful teams in conferences no one has heard about. Football metrics have a hard time with this as well, where they decide that a mediocre SEC team is really good because all of their losses were "good" losses.

If there is such thing as a "good" loss, it would be our loss to Baylor where we lost to a future #1 seed with a chance to win at the buzzer.

Fans can dub this loss or that one a "bad loss" all they like, but what I care about is how the committee will judge it.

I am also convinced that, as with football, there is significantly more parity in college hoops today than 10 or 20 years ago. As someone stated in another thread today, it only takes a player or two to make a huge difference in the quality of a given team, so judging an opponent by its name or its rep or its history is tricky and, in my opinion, inadvisable.

I expect a poor crowd by Kst standards. They are 4 and 11 in there last 15 but they showed up against WV and won big.

Key game. Weber seems to have Kruger's number. This game in Manhattan was the one where when we were top 10, (maybe top 5) and the TY run came to a crashing halt.

We have to play well to win. Like we did at Baylor.

It's a terrible loss if you lose to this K-state team.

Funny that a guy so in tune with gambling and odds would view a loss AS AN UNDERDOG as a terrible loss. From a subjective standpoint as a fan, of course it would be disappointing, frustrating, and a letdown if we can't get this one. Remove the subjective feelings, and it would be a missed opportunity but not the apocalypse you are painting it to be. Either way, every game we play is big for our tournament hopes, so the labels are somewhat irrelevant.

Said it before and will say it again. Must match or exceed their effort. They are playing better now and will be scrappy. We need the same effort we had at Baylor.

Can’t make a shot and giving up layups and offensive rebounds. Down 8-2 after 1st TV timeout

K State getting easy layups and Doolittle looking bad to start doesn't bode well. 8-2 KSU at the first media timeout.

Sluggish start on offense, not surprising on the road. But they are allowing KSU to get to the rim, definitely need to tighten that up

Terrible offense and terrible defense but other than that we are playing great!

Another bad start in the Little Apple. And another game we can't hit anything.

Bottom line is we have no game inside the paint. We rely totally on the outside game of 15 ft and beyond. If we aren't running, we don't score.

To make it worse, we aren't solid on the other end.
