Tough opening game on the road vs a very good mid major with almost everyone returning from NCAA tourney team last year.

South Dakota did win the Summit League tournament last year and the preseason poll has them picked first in the Summit League over South Dakota St. They have all 5 starters back from last year…they are also doing a stripe the arena thing and seem very excited to get a Power 5 team to play them at their home arena. Considering we are not experienced yet in Jennie’s systems this has to be a tougher opening game than Jennie would prefer.

Down 7-5 at first timeout. We made 6 turnovers in first 3 minutes as we played way to fast and out of control. Luckily we played good enough defense to stay in the game. Lampkin and Washington both with 2 early fouls.

Down 22-21 at end of first quarter. Madi with 13 and Taylor with 2 3s. Key stat for us is 8 turnovers. Also gave up 6 offensive rebounds to South Dakota

We are up 37-33 at half. We calmed down and played better after the first 3 minutes. We also did a better job on rebounding in the second quarter and lead in rebounds 20-19. Madi with 15, Taylor 9 and Ana 7 for the majority of our scoring. Stay calm and smart in the second half and we should win.
