OU vs. UCLA

Unnecessary loss, largely due to lazy effort. Griffin came to play as did Sharane. I'm not really sure about anyone else. Portia made a couple of nice plays, and a couple of mistakes.

I wasn't pleased with Carter today. She jacked up some shots when she isn't that type of shooter.

Vegas? Not one jump shot? Hit absolutely nothing. It is beginning to look like Derica is our three-point gunner who hits them in every game?

There was some homerism by the officials.

With doubt. And in an area all knew would be key this year.

Rebounds 50-29 UCLA

Top two Sooner rebounders - Hook and Ellenberg with 5. No one else even had 4. No desire from the posts. Very pathetic.

On the radio Sherri said that they couldn't figure out how to play. Touch fouls called, if you block out a foul. If you don't they get the rebound and score. She was very, very frustrated. Was just short of saying she got jobbed by the officials.

Ankle injury for Kornet, severity unknown.

Twelve minutes for Kay Kay.

We outscored UCLA in the paint, despite the offensive rebounds. We did nothing from outside except for Derica.

Twenty offensive rebounds to five.

31-19 in fouls. Really? As rough as UCLA was inside, they didn't foul?

Just another game to learn and grow. Our team is really young and clearly UCLA is talented. How they are ranked I am not sure. Yes we can be mad at the refs but when it comes down to it you have to your job.

Looked like UCLA wanted it more than we did. UCLA also seemed to get calls where we were charged with fouls. Coale seemed real pASSIVE. i KEPT WAITING FOR HER TO BLAST THE REFS, BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED.

In spite of a lot of stupid turnovers, the officials reeked of PAC 12 football officials. Even the Pro-PAC 12 broadcast crew (btw they were HORRIBLE!) mentioned numerous times they didn't see the foul against OU.

I think we saw why Williams is not starting over Nicole. She is a foul waiting to happen.

We know that OU has drawn lots of fouls this year so that part wasn't surprising; although, on the bad calls that went against us, Sherri should have been all over the refs but it didn't look like she said a word.

We have also talked about the poor rebounding and I fully expected Sherri would work them really hard in practice and we would see a huge improvement. No, we stood around and let UCLA grab 20 OFFENSIVE boards.

Sherri has a lot of work to do. We have got to cut down on fouls and start putting out some effort on the boards.

So, we can say it for her. But, that isn't unusual out west. Don't you see several west coast teams that have a lot more difficulty playing on the road? Even Stanford likes home a lot, lot better. They have a lot more trouble when they go east.

Does it really do any good when you yell at the officials? Even when they are caught in a biased situation, all the conference does is to apologize after the fact. I think that if you don't want to lose like that, you probably should avoid scheduling certain schools at their house. I don't know that I would ever play UCLA, Oregon, or Stanford at their house. But, it's also tough for a non-SEC team to play at Georgia.

Wow, I thought it was her knee! Even looked like she had ice on her knee when she came back to the bench. I only hope it's ankle.
The radio broadcast said it was an ankle. They also said that took the wind out of us.

That is what I like about Sherri she talks to the refs but does not yell at them. She is setting an example for her players with keeping composure. I can think of another big 12 coach who does the opposite I would be rather embarrassed to call my coach.

I've seen Sherri get on the officials enough at LNC. I'm not sure it would even help anyway, especially in PAC 12. And I didn't see enough on TV enough to have a clue whether she got on them or not. I can see she was just as shocked as a lot of us by some of the calls.

And I don't care how bad the officiating is, I don't ever want to see her act like Sulky Mulkey or Jeff Mittie do on the sidelines!

The coach may or may not get the next call to go in their favor but, there is a time when a coach has got to stand up for their players! Let them know you're fighting for them. It can fire up the players as well as the bench which might be enough to pull out a close game.

I would not want Mulkey, either. But I know at least 4 other coaches in the conference that would have been all over the officials. That would be Bill Fennelly, Jeff Mittie, Jim Littell, and Mike Carey.

Heard that also...clearly she felt that the refs were poor.

In spite of that we still win if we could make hit a couple of shots that we usually make. Aaryn was 2-13 and 0-4 from 3. First game in 27 where she did not hit a 3.

I have never heard Sherri so frustrated. She NEVER publicly complains about the refs but she clearly said that they never understood what to do re: defense and rebounding. She indicated it was a lose-lose.

I will say this for UCLA. They go right to the best spots when the ball goes up. But they also go over the back and slash at you when you get a board.
