OU vs. WSU

This was a bad loss. We played well early in the second half and then the last 10 minutes we played terrible on both ends and Wichita took advantage.

A bad loss? No, it’s just 1 loss. There’s no shame in losing to Wichita st. They’re very good.

Well, we had some great moments had some really bad brain farts... mainly on defensive rebounding.

It’ll be an up and down season. Hopefully we can beat Creighton.

It's a bad loss because we should have won. We laid an egg in the last 12 minutes and handed them the game. I didn't mean it was a bad loss in the grand scheme of things or will deter us from getting in the tournament.

There's maybe only 3 teams in the Big 12 better than Wichita State. And we played them up there. The real tough game is the one we got coming up where we travel up north to Creighton. It's probably a must win game before conference play begins.

We had some horrible def rebounds.... giving them offensive rebounds which led to points.

Like standing there...no boxing out ... horrible.

You just defined a “tough loss”.

Had we lost to north Texas....THAT would have been a bad loss.

I can’t explain the difference between the two any better.

To state the obvious, our inability to take care of the defensive glass killed us. We could have been up a dozen or more had we not given up so many second and third chance points. Even with that, we still possession and the lead late, so not finishing hurts. Need to win Tuesday and split these two games.

Oh thank God! That makes it all better

Harmon surprised me with all those 3s. Bienemy continues to struggle big time. We really need him to step up his game and find his way. Reaves had a bad game and struggled. He hit a few 3s late but it was too little too late. Otherwise he really struggled.

We have little to no presence inside. It boggles the mind that we can never have any strength or toughness down low.

This is going to be a theme all year... They will lose games when they can't rebound. I wouldn't have expected a small WSU team to beat OU that bad on the glass, but it is OUs achilles heel.

Trey Wade had 15 rebounds for them and he is 6'6''.... OU just doesn't have anyone who can control the glass, and hasn't since Spangler.

Can't wait for the, "But it was a road game!" and "But we played hard!" takes.

now listen ... you told me to respect how you process a loss. and that's fine. I have. But you must do the same. you just keep moaning and complaining and I will process it my own way.

I didn't tell you that, you must have me confused with someone else, but okay, fair enough.

We don't recruit basketball players down low. We recruit athletes in search of "rim protection", which is the most overrated aspect of defensive basketball. Couple that with our inability to develop anything that remotely resembles an inside presence and you get a result like today (-17 on the boards).

We can scheme around it most nights, but it's hard to win on the road, especially in conference play, when you get smoked on the boards.

YES!!!!!

We recruit far too many athletes with limited skill sets. Those guys are all fine and dandy if you have guys that can actually play. But we have too many of them. We haven't been a good rebounding team in a number of years.

And Bieniemy. My goodness. smh

That's an excellent point. It's all well and good to have athletes right and left ... but inside presence still matters. I actually thought Brady was doing a pretty good job. But we're really hurting in the paint.

Not sure I'd label them small. They have four guys they rotate at the five who have very good size, and rebounding is basically the foundation of their program. They got destroyed on the glass against West Virginia but have dominated us and OSU since. That said, it was painful to watch in person tonight. We might have made a conscious decision not to go for offensive boards in order to eliminate transition offense for them, but our defensive rebounding was inexcusable.

I thought OU was the smaller team

Wait wait wait

What’s the story with Marshall’s daughter?

I missed that!

Supposedly (and it's a pretty strong rumor) Reaves was caught in bed with Marshall's daughter, or something to that effect. Though, it's fairly common knowledge that Marshall's daughter has made the rounds with WSU basketball players...tons of them. Markus McDuffie was one of them.

You know, I was at Allen Field House for the 3 OT thriller and not once did a KU fan tell me to sit down and shut up. Not once. This is now two OU vs. WSU games in a row at Intrust where multiple WSU fans have told me to sit down and shut up. Last time, after Trae had drilled one of his multiple threes. This time, I kind of got tired of them booing Reaves, so after he made a three in the 2nd half I stood up and clapped and yelled "Go Austin". In that instance, the man in front of me turned around and told me to be quiet because I was hurting his wife's ears. It's not like just prior to that and just after that, the crowd was so loud that my ears were ringing. As a graduate of WSU, I am honestly ashamed of the fan base. For a split second, I was telling myself I would never go back. However, I'll be there in two years cheering for OU just as loud if no louder. Screw WSU. I was very gracious leaving Intrust two years ago, unlike WSU fans leaving Chesapeake the year prior. In two years when OU wins, I won't be as quiet leaving that arena. You'll probably hear me yelling "Boomer" all the way to the car.

BOOMER!!
