OU WBB Discussion & Thoughts

It feels like the last 3 years we've been in the same region as the eventual national champion, I would definitely like that to change this postseason! We've got to take care of business against Missouri and we've got to win a couple games in the SEC tourney, IMO, in order to stay at a number 3 seed and get a favorable draw. There's nothing flashy about Iowa but they somehow get the job done. Blue collar basketball that doesn't look as sexy as some of our plays do but is more consistent than we have been, and if we draw them I'm sure they will be looking for a little revenge for last year's blowout loss.
 
Mindless turnovers and careless fouls. We must do better if we hope to do well in the NCAA tournament.
 
I really hope Chavez works hard in the off season. She has the skill but her shot has not fallen this year. I would love to see her shoot 40% from 3. I think she is capable. Maybe the speed of the game has thrown her shots off this year.
 
With all the regular season games done we are 12th in the Net Ranking and 11th in Wins Above Bubble. Beat the Florida/Mississippi State winner in the SEC tournament and I think we will stay a 3 seed.
 
Has the talk of a Chavez transfer over the summer cooled off? Imagine some big money might be thrown at her after the season is over.

I’m still hearing it will be a negotiation, but I’m also hearing Vann, Smith & Lofton may Go to the portal. Of course that’s not from the horse’s mouth, but may be true. If so I don’t know want to know what Oklahoma will look like, unless they hit the jackpot in the portal.

Why would they go to the portal one is a starter and the other 2 could be starters next year.

All I was told is nobody is happy. I think there’s more to it than minutes. People fling rumors all day long. I don’t even like saying I heard it being said.
 
Last year, during the Women's College World Series, there were rumors about a certain team offering Kasidi Pickering $1 million to transfer before the season was even over. These kids have all kinds of people in their ears. Often, the root of their discontent is their parents. Ryan Humphrey's Dad was never happy with Kelvin had him playing the 3 instead of the 4 or the 4 instead of the 3 - I can't remember which it was. He made his discontent quite public. He convinced Ryan to transfer to Notre Dame, where he played the same position he'd played at OU.

If you don't like saying you heard it being said, why repeat it?

Because it’s something to consider if true. But it’s probably best to leave it be. You’re right about parents though. They can be their child’s downfall. I felt that way about Caleb William’s. Thought that move was all his dad. I guess it’s safe to say in this day and age, it will be a question every year now. Can’t waste time worrying about it and just watch it all unfold. Seems we haven’t had a portal problem like other schools, but I don’t know as much in that department.
 
Would be disappointing to see players leave. From my POV this team hasn’t really felt cohesive this year like other JB teams. No inside knowledge but I could see Vann or Chavez leaving to be the main pg for a team instead of splitting it between them here.
 
i seriously doubt all of those kids are really considering transferring. Chavez i can see, on account of $$$ being anyone cares about these days, but the Oklahoma girls that play more at OU than they probably would at any other respectable P4 school? Seems like BS to me...unless a crummy team like Auburn is offering 6 figures and all they are about is more money..

That’s not true at all. But you’ve said before you only watched them play for Oklahoma. You don’t know how they actually play, so not even necessary to go go back and forth. But we need them to stay.
 
Jenny’s retention has been close to spotless since she has been here. I’m giving her the benefit of the doubt until that changes.
