Re: OU-West Virginia Box Score/Highlights

Reports of our demise have been greatly exaggerated.

This isn't a good win; it's a great win. If we can put some more together. ..who knows? It's important to remember that, though the team started 0-4, 2 were against KU & Baylor so we weren't probably going to be better than 2-2 anyway.

I wonder if everyone who gave up on Kruger and these guys a week or 2 ago will be back on board now.

Re: OU-West Virginia Box Score/Highlights

12 friggin' turnovers! 12!

These guys really stepped up and were huge. Baylor turned it over 29 times against this team last week.

Re: OU-West Virginia Box Score/Highlights

Huggins was furious in his pressed. No credit to Lon & OU, never have liked him

He's embarrassed but I don't think he has anything against Lon. He always loved Spangler I know that and nobody who knows Lon dislikes him. Plus they both have that K-State connection.

Huggy bear is just embarrassed they lost and the fact we made their defense look really bad most of the game. How many easy Buckets did we get? A lot.

The lowest number against WVU this season. And most of those 12 were not caused by the press.

And it was on overtime game so 5 extra minutes and it was STILL the lowest!

Not only that but how many easy buckets did we score? Not only were we not bothered by the pressure, we thrived against it particularly in the first half.

This is absolutely true. We did exactly what a team should do (for the most part); we attacked the press looking to score and got lots of easy buckets.

Last year, this team could really shoot. This year, it's offensive strength is in attacking the basket. We do this much better than any OU team in recent memory. Once they figure out how to also penetrate and find open 3 pt shooters, we're going to be deadly on offense.

James, for example, had lots of open shots last year and very few this year. Once Odomes, Doolittle, McGusty, etc can dish to James and other shooters in addition to getting to the rim, we're going to be really hard to stop.

I found this quote on WVU's official athletics site in their recap of the game:

"On his postgame radio show afterward, Huggins listed three reasons why his press did little to affect Oklahoma tonight.

“One, the guy at the other end of the bench is a heck of a coach (Lon Kruger). Secondly, Jordan Woodard is a heck of a player,” said Huggins. “Thirdly, it’s been like pulling teeth to get these guys to work as hard as they were working before in practice and it shows."

When Odomes is driving that leaves Woodard open and he's deadly from 3 if left wide open. We need James to get some confidence and if Odomes can knock down jumpers from 3 that will help too.

Re: OU-West Virginia Box Score/Highlights

I say again that, by the end of the season, nobody will want to play us.

I'd imagine nobody is all that anxious to play us right now.

worth watching?

Definitely worth watching! Huggins spells out WVU's loss in his usual straightforward, brutally honest way to critique his team and his players. One of the best post game interviews I have ever watched.

Bob sure has aged over the years. I remember him being so young in 1991 when he brought Cincy into the LNC for the NIT tournament. OU trailed by 8 with 1:30 left and won in OT.

Here is what Huggins looked like in those days. This is actually from the 92 final 4 team at Cincy so almost 25 years ago.

That's a shame. I, on the other hand, look exactly like I did in 1991!
