We are still really young and inexperienced. We showed that. Cincy played really good defense and we didn't know what to do. Their offense was horrible and all they did was jack up threes and hope they go in. We should have won that game. Where the hell was Cam?

I'm still amazed that it's even possible to lose a game to a team that shoots 29% and almost exclusively shoots (and misses) 3 pointers. Just about everything went wrong the last 6 minutes. Our last defensive possession was baffling (especially considering we just came out of a timeout).

Hopefully the guys are able to keep working hard and improve throughout the year. We really need Cam to step up his game, too. He was a non-factor tonight.

BTW, how bad was that foul that the officials called on blair for 3? horrible call

I'm getting really tired of watching guys kick their legs out and while falling to draw contact on 3 pointers. It's the Keiton Page special and it's total BS. It's pathetic that the referees continue to fall for it.

I wouldn't call us a young or inexperience team...that is just an excuse for what happened tonight. The facts are that their offense the whole night was for the most part selfish basketball. Bad shots were taken the whole time. That was a horrible team that we lost to tonight. Osby and Fitz played really good. Fitz needs to know the difference between a full court press(man to man) and a Full Court trap. All he did was cause more problems for Grooms.

disagree with this entire post. Two of our biggest pieces are new pieces. That's inexperience.

Whether you want to admit it or not, we are inexperienced. Especially on the road

Disappointed in Cam. He's not playing in big games, which means the coaches don't have confidence in him. You can see when he goes in that he's just not comfortable.

Just as disappointed in Blair. To think he was our starting PG last year and now he looks like he has regressed this year. This is a game when newell would have been nice to have down the stretch.

Blair seems to be a disaster waiting to happen. Cam was a no-show which happens often enough to look hard at someone else to play more of his minutes when he is piddling around. Thst game was a demonstration of how not to play defense towards the end of the game. As bad as I've seen anyone play in a while.

I am not so disappointed in Blair, he is what he is. He'll make a few plays but he makes tons of mistakes. He is a back up type player.

Clark has too much potential to be as invisible as he is.

A team with only two sophomores and no freshmen isn't young or inexperienced. The opposite is true...

I think this team is inexperienced. New Coach, New System, New starting PG, new PF. We have an experienced core but overall, imo we are still inexperienced as a team

This.

As for the game... tough loss, but I was impressed with the defense and hustle on the boards. They'll learn from this.

New coach and system means nothing. This is basketball, not rocket science.

Your new starting 4 is in his second year with Oklahoma and his fourth with a major conference team. He isn't young or inexperienced.

Grooms is your only starter new to OU, and he had two years of juco experience.

Look around college basketball. Almost everyone has new guys playing key roles. Oklahoma, relative to most teams, is pretty damn experienced.

What you do lack, though, is experience winning.

yeah it shouldn't matter at all with a completely new system and coach. They should just be able to plug coaches in and be perfectly fine. And it shouldn't matter that this was our first true road test.

First of all, you don't have any freshmen either, so that point is moot (technically we do have one, but he's a redshirt coming off a ruptured Achilles; he has a lot of experience watching from the bench in both games and practice).

We don't have any first-year juco guys, unfortunately. We have just eight scholarship players right now and would kill for a little bit more of that type of inexperience on the bench.

We played Villanova in MSG. FWIW, they're ranked 61 in the Pomroy rankings. Cinci is 51. Oklahoma is 54.

Of course, this isn't about Mizzou. MU is just one example of many of a new coach finding success quickly. It happens all the time. There are also plenty of examples of coaches hitting their groove in year two or three (Mike Anderson being a great example of year three being the breakthrough season).

Point? Kruger being in his first year at OU should not be an excuse for anything. The guy has nearly 500 wins. He knows what he's doing. Nothing he's asking his players to do is (or should be) all that new to them. Nothing they're seeing from other teams should come as a surprise, either. Experience is not a factor.

lol. whatever man. Never said it was an excuse. It's a reason. Experience is always a factor. Especially in this teams first road test. We will see how Haith holds up. Mizzou's schedule hasn't been that difficult
