OU's season is very similar to

I believe his point was that we don't have enough information on Capel to make that determination yet.

As he pointed out, Snyder went from the Eilte Eight to out of a job 3 years later.

What we know about Capel so far is that his teams excel when they include a guy who is the #1 overall pick in the NBA draft.

Only time will tell if his teams will excel without such a rare talent on the roster.

I understand that, but he quoted my other post in which I said there was much more to the Snyder ordeal....and there is.

I think the point is that Capel is not cheating like Snyder. He isn't the slick, snakeoil salesman type that Quin seemed to be.

No, that wasn't my point, but there is probably some validity to your post.

I'm not going to divulge what I'm talking about...maybe one of the Beak posters on here can you tell to what I'm referring.

Sorry to put words in your mouth. Can't wait to here from Cheno or Grace on this one.

It is nice when coaches like Doc Sadler say they respect Capel because he does it the right way....I took that mostly as a recruiter

About Snyder: He was accussed on various occassions of paying players, had a then current player spending an odd amount of time with the University of Missouri president essentially saying the Snyder was paying players, eventually the Missouri program was put on probation, then had some less than flattering pictures come out of him looking wasted while out on the town, oh, and in the meantime his wife left him.

Not trying to put words in anybody's mouth, and from what happened with Tiger Woods, I guess nobody is "immune" from certain things...but to compare what Jeff is doing with OU and what Snyder was doing during the latter part of his tenure at Mizzou is doing a big disservice to a guy [Capel] that appears by all accounts to be doing everything the right way both on and off the court.

I think that is the point, the only comparison between Capel and Snyder is that they played at Duke and coached in the same conference [although not at the same time].

Have a buddy who is "inside" the Mizzou HS basketball circle and has ties inside the Mizzou Tiger program and he said there was no doubt this was the case.
I don't have a doubt in mind, I also don't have a doubt and know for a fact he did with players.

I need to party with Quinn...for real. Between Petino, Sutton, Eustachy, Billy Clyde, Quinn and others, being a college basketball coach sounds like a pretty fun job.

I know, I missed out. Our Coach at UIC was a square, it would have been cool to party with the guy who determined if you were going to get run or not. :ez-laugh:

*Hands Jasmine a few Benjamins*
Me: (at stripclub) Hey coach, this is Jasmine, you've got one hour.

Just think about the Big XII coaching alums you could party with!

Also, think about the ones who you wouldn't want to party with. Bob Knight would be critiquing the strippers on their head fakes.

I know, that would be so awesome.

I am about the same age as Coach Capel and Quinn are/were during their respective tenures...lord knows, a million dollars per year, access to a private jet etc. Sweet jesus, my career would be short lived...but explosive for sure!

Okay, now that was funny.

Seems to me that being a basketball coach is something I will be in my next life.

I wonder who the biggest partier is right now? We ALL know that at least one of these guys is "not what they seem" at the present time. My guess is Drew.

Not sure that I want to know what is going on there...at all; however, I expect legislation in Colorado to make it illeagal to have JUCO scouting reports in the same room with those two without a permit.

Drew just strikes me as the "next" guy to go down in flames due to some off the court controversy.

I don't care what one coach did or another but if Jeff has another year like this one he's gonna be on the hot seat. He may have a tough time lasting another season. Just like what happened with Snyder after an elite 8 and a couple bad years. Don't care if you do everything right, you lose you don't last long.
