Player vs Prospect

I read that what separates a player from a prospect is that a player is good 24-7 where a prospect is up/down and struggles with overall consistency.
 
That sounds like a personal definition that may suit the one who made it. Is 24-hour meant to mean off the court, or what they do when they don't have the ball? What does it mean?

I've seen a lot of the top ten prospects of HoopGurlz and Prospect Nation, and I have seen enough to predict that none of them will ever play in college based on their worst showing. Then, there are times when they play well. There is one top five player that I have never seen hit a shot until the game is essentially over. How do you rate someone like that?
 
Geno challenges his players to play beyond the limits they place on themself. Those who can break through those self imposed barriers advance from a prospect to a player. Or from prospect to super star. Others fail to break through.

Joanna McFarland was such a player for OU. She really took a step forward about midway in her career.
