Pledger makes Deadspin

Didn't see that the first time around. Lol that was pretty bad Steve.

I would have done the same thing...he is a confident shooter and is honestly surprised when the ball doesn't go in on a look like that...love him and his confidence, too bad he will be buried on these bad OU teams...hopefully next year he will have a chance to make that mark on a good team

He would have made it, he just didn't compensate for his body being moving just a bit to the left. The shot barely missed to the left. Perfect arc and distance. Not sure we had enough left in the tank to win in OT, but their PG had 4 fouls.

Hahahaha. But it is unfortunate that this is what the general college basketball fanbase will remember him for, dude is beasting this year.

He is on his way to being one of my favorite Sooners ever. I have a soft spot for shooters, and like another poster said tonight, he might end up being one of the best shooters we've had at OU. It's too bad he hasn't had much talent around him. Hopefully they can go to the Dance next year. He deserves to taste that.

We will be dancing next year. Next year's team will be better than many of Kelvin's teams that went. We ought to have the best non-Baylor frontcourt in the league next year, as well as a legitimate CPOTY contender in Pledger.

You must be high. This team isn't even close to any of Kelvin's teams that went and I just don't see it starting next year as well.

His second and third teams weren't great: 1995-96 was 17-13 (8-6) and 96-97 was 19-11 (9-7). Next year could approach those marks with the right bounces. Whether that would get OU in the tournament now versus then, I don't know.

They has at least three with four fouls.

lol next year we will be really good. To say not even close is wrong.

It was an opinion. Isn't that why message boards exist (for posting an opinion)?

Dude...are you a nazi? If someone doesn't agree with you then they are wrong. Something is wrong with people who think like this. We can't all agree.

Wow.

Where is OSUJeff...he used to have an old sig of mine relating to the same thing.

In Basketball, the good thing about "turning it around" is that you can do it so much quicker because it requires so few people. If Lon can go out and get 2-3 studs to go with what we already have, we could be in pretty good shape, I think. Also, even if he doesn't, we should be better with these guys having an extra year in his system.

He expressed an opinion that another opinion was wrong. Isn't THAT what boards like this are for?

Everyone has a right to an opinion, but not all opinions are right.

OU will definitely be much better next year. I wouldn't count on experience to be the source of that improvement (every other team will also be a year older and a year wiser), but you'll be adding multiple pieces and losing nothing. Between the Wyoming transfer and your incoming freshmen, you should be a completely different team.

Even if the transfer only gives you 2/3 of what people are expecting and your freshmen are only good for 10 minutes/game, that's still a big boost that would make a difference. Worst case you add competent depth behind Osby/Fitzgerald and athleticism on the wings to help defend teams like ISU.

Agreed. I don't know how complicated Lon's system is, but an extra year of familiarity on the part of the players can't hurt. His practices are open to the public and I'd really like to go over and see some, but my business demands hold me back this time of year. My cousin goes to some and says that after each practice, Kruger comes over and chats with the folks attending. Sounds like he is really doing it right.

I am really hoping that M'Baye, Hield and Hornbeak are those 2-3 studs you reference. I fear the praise of M'Baye may be overstated but I do know he posted pretty respectable numbers at Wyoming. I hope one of these three can shoot above 35% from 3 point range. That would really help this current team. OU just doesn't have enough guys that can consistently hit a 3 point shot.

I am also hoping that Tyler Neal will develop into a guy that can come off the bench and hit some big 3 point shots. He has his moments and was a fabulous high school basketball player.

I disagree about your comment on experience for two reasons. First, everyone will not be more experienced because most everyone else is losing key players. KU will likely lose three starters. Baylor will likely lose three of their top 6 players. Missouri (no longer in the conference) is going to be a shell of the team they are this year. All three of those teams will be substantially less experienced next season. Yes their returning players will be more experienced but not like a returning starter.

Second, people have to remember this is the first year for these guys with Kruger. Most of the other teams have been with their coach for several years (Missouri, A&M and Tech are exceptions). Therefore, I think a year of experience for OU (and the others mentioned) is more important than a year of experience for KU, OSU, ISU, Texas and KSU.

If M'Baye is close to as advertised, I'll take that team over Kelvin's first few and last couple of teams.
