That is why I don't compare Pledger to Heskett. Not nearly as good a shooter.

I think he is very comparable to Newton and Neal. Very similar players.

Hard to say. I don't think Steven would have ever played for Kelvin because he wouldn't stand for players taking plays off or slacking which Steven seems to do. Both Neal and Newton brought their lunch pale every day but they had to.

If Steven hustled all the time and gave max effort, he could be comparable to those 2.

Now Heskett was on a different level. If a ball was on the floor, Tim was somewhere around it and he played great defense. He epitomized a Kelvin Sampson player, IMO.

Heskett was a good defender too. His defense is what led the comeback vs aTm in 98 when it looked like we had ZERO chance to win with a few minutes left in the game.

I don't think it's fair to predict what kind of player Pledger would have been under different coaching. He probably needed a fire lit under his butt on day one, but instead, played two seasons for that knucklehead Jeff Capel. Had Pledger started with Kelvin or LK, I think he might be a different player than he is today.

Completely agree. He would have been different or been run off.

Totally agree, and that's why I started off my reply with "hard to say...".

Honestly, I don't think he would have ever been interested in coming here if Kelvin or Lon were the coach. The announcers said during the Texas game Capel had been recruiting Pledger when he was at VCU so Pledger would have gone wherever Capel was coaching.

Neal was awfully good his junior season. In the right setting Neal was a great college basketball player. I think OU could really use a guy like Neal this year. Someone to come off the bench and hit 3 point shots would be huge for this team. It might move OU to a top 10 team.

I was really hoping Tyler Neal could do that but he can't seem to find his shot. (I am not saying I thought Tyler could be as good as Michael, I was just hoping he could shoot 35%+ from 3 point range coming off the bench.)

Neal was awfully good his junior season, but Pledger's was better when you factor in what he had to work with. Kevin Bookout, Taj Gray, Terrell Everett, etc were a pretty nice compliment. Neal battled some injuries his senior year but did not have a good season.
