Enjoy!

Pretty good interview, good breakdown on the guys that just signed.

Also some good info/news on the players coming back.

Thanks Sam, great interview. It's awesome to hear that the returning guys have been working their butts off in conditioning drills. It's going to be crucial for this team for Pledger and Fitz to show significant improvement, and it sounds like they're definitely putting in the work to try to get there.

Edit: Fitz ran the mile in under 6!!

running a mile under 6 is trucking, that's great news!

Not to make light of their times, but...my 15 yr old daughter runs a 5:50ish mile. She's a good runner, but not a great one. The winning times in 6A track are like 5:20.

Winning 6A HS boys run 4:25-4:35 range, so I'd assume a "slow" mile for a boy would be around 5:00.

Anyway, glad to hear they are working hard...

People who run track can put up better times than people who play basketball? Who woulda thunk it?

yeah, for Basketball players who don't typically engage in long-distance exercises--and particularly for a guy as big as Fitz, sub-6 is pretty dang good.

She ran those times as a friggin FRESHMAN IN HS. She's not a track athlete...she's a softball player. I sure wouldn't have thunk it...:woot

I AM glad for him, but I think that shows you how out of shape he is. HE should easily be able to run a mile around 5 minutes...IF he's in shape. THAT'S the kind of shape the whole team should be in if they expect to be fresh at the end of a game...IMO

I think rivals got a hold of your daughter's track times.

NOOOO, she didn't even qualify for state. Man, the high-end girls can REALLY run it. Crazy fast.

I was j/k. Trying to remember back to our HS mile times, I think most of our guys were mid 5's. I think I ran a 5:25 once as a 6'4" post. Just watching Fitz last season, I think a 6 minute mile is a good sign!

Let me know when your daughter runs a 6:00 mile at 6'8'' 260 pounds.

Just kidding, of course.

That's just simply not true! A lot of factors go into a mile runner, the most to which big pointed out, the guy is huge! Basketball players are use to short bursts of sprinting, not mile runs. They just don't train to run that great of a distance and just because a person is in shape doesn't mean they should be able to run a distance of a mile in a certain time. For Drew to have ran it that fast is great.

Cade is the only one that runs long distances on a regular basis, did he give Cade's time?

It is rather funny, I clicked on this link to hear about Capel's interview but somehow found myself reading about high school girls track times.

...and you really added some value to the thread as well...:clap

We'll just have to agree to disagree. I bet YoYo would agree with me as well. These guys should be in incredible shape to play at the level they are expected...

And for KA's sake...she dropped off a 5:59 yesterday in 40mph winds after running a 2:40 800 an hour earlier...:woot
