7 wins = NCAA lock
6 wins = NCAA Bubble
5 wins = NIT lock
4 wins = NIT Bubble

3 wins = :(

Looks about right to me. It should be noted, however, that only two teams with fewer than 19 wins (Northwestern at 18-13 and Cal with a 17-14 record) were among the 32-team NIT field last year.

OU might get a NIT at-large bid with four more wins, but I wouldn't want to count on it. I think we have to win at least 18 games to have a legitimate shot at playing in the post season. Seventeen wins and winning a couple of rounds in the conference tournament might do it, too. Anything short of one of those two scenarios will likely leave our players home watching both tournaments on television with the rest of us.

I think this is a year to claw back to being respectable.
Probably no bids anywhere unless like the CBA.

The nit got much tougher to get into when the NCAA took it over a few years ago. Mizzou played in two near the end of Quin's tenure, and I think we actually finished below .500 in one of those years. But because we were a big school the old nit thought could fill seats, we got a bid and even hosted. Now you have to actually earn it.

I like that. The NIT didn't used to be worth watching until the games moved to MSG. Now, some of the early round games are not all bad. If this OU team doesn't earn their way in, they don't deserve to be there anyway.

I wouldn't mind playing in the CBI. Extra basketball is extra basketball...

NIT should be the goal though.

I agree about the NIT being a goal. It's pretty lofty given the strength of the Big-12...but it seems reasonable.

If we don't make the NIT, I'd just assume skip the CBI. This team doesn't need more games, it needs a little more talent. Just not sure we gain much by simply "playing more".
