I love Dickie V. His passion for the game is genuine and contagious. Yes, he's a Duke homer, I don't care. He's an announcer, he's not on the tournament committee.

He's not an announcer, he's a screamer.

I'm sure he's a nice fellow and I agree he loves the game, but he makes the broadcast all about him and his antics. His contributions are at a fourth-grade level.

In short, he plays the clown. Which is fine, if one likes clowns, but who wants to watch or listen to a clown while a game's going on? I like an announcer that trusts his audience and knows the game is sufficient to hold our interest. No hollering and hype necessary.

I hate the guy. He had Blake Griffin a third team all American playing for Oklahoma state..... tells you all you need to know about his basketball prowess

It gets a little tiresome how basketball pundits speak of our success only in how it relates to Kansas.

Vitale noticed how insightful and clever Al McGuire's observations were during games, and it gave him (or someone close to hime) the idea to begin to coin terms for every type of basketball play. Al McGuire was homespun and genuine. Vitale is a media clown.

Much in the same regard as Bill Walton, however, Walton is a "clown on drugs". Still, I'm fascinated by his non-basketball stories/rants that have nothing to do with what's going on in the game. And I just can't seem to change the channel when he is on the broadcast.....because you never know what you're going to hear out of him.
