OU / Villanova Dec. 7 in Hawaii

So what is Hawaii like in early December? lol

Might have to check into that.

The only drawback to Hawaii in early December is the whales are just arriving. The good whale watching isn't for another month.

If I go all the way to Hawaii, it won't be to watch whales. ;)

If you have never seen humpback whales you should at some point in your life. They are pretty amazing creatures. I saw them in Cabo a few years ago and I am glad I did.

I know Hawaii is an attractive location, but I would rather see home and homes than neutral site games. More fun IMO.

While I don't disagree, it's kind of like the alt uniform "issue" with football. While I don't always love the alt uni's and like our classic look, the kids want the new uni's and looks. Just like I'm sure the kids like hearing about the possible trips. Kid is torn between OU and UT, he knows OU is going to the Bahamas one year and Hawaii the next, that might play a roll.

Not against seeing them, just probably wouldn't plan a trip around it.

I was in Cabo a couple of years back (BEAUTIFUL place, btw), but it wasn't whale season then either.

I see your point. But a trip to the Bahamas and/or Hawaii is a lot more attractive than neutral site games, especially to a recruit who never had a chance to leave their city or state before going off to college. It's an experience they will never forget.

Going twice in 15 days? I get it, attractive location.

Just pointing out I would rather OU play big non-conference games at home to get the local support in the seats, which then carries over to conference. Playing a neutral site game five time zones behind isn't going to do that.

Also, every high major program plays games in Hawaii, Bahamas, Florida, Mexico, etc these days...the exemption tournaments are a norm. If a recruit is deciding his college choice on that, he isn't very smart.

Like Wisconsin and Creighton this upcoming season

Then Memphis the next year

I don't disagree that the home and home games, and the exposure the program receives, are more important to the basketball program. I'm just saying the glamour trips to faraway, exotic places are more important to the players. Max Power has the right idea. Find a way to do both.

Wisconsin is a great game to have on campus, would look even better if you add a road game at Villanova.

I don't count Creighton or Memphis, personally. Both teams are moving backward IMO and OU should beat both handily.
