The beginning of the end?

It is certainly not theoretical. The betting lines show that playing at home is worth a hand full of points in every sport. Basketball tends to be the largest home court advantage due to the officiating. Some home courts and fields have an even greater advantage. Ou basketball has to be one of the lesser advantages in p4 due to the design of the arena and lack of fans.
I'm sorry but I just can't accept that arena design is a factor in betting lines. Lack of fans certainly but not arena design. It's the same design that Billy and Kelvin had significant home court advantage with.

By the way, did you all see the short mention during the Georgia game of the AD doing several things to heighten atmosphere and game experience at Georgia basketball? The one that stuck out to me was moving the students courtside lower level mid court. As a multi decade season ticket holder I would whole heartedly endorse doing this at LNC. Make one of the lower sides students only from baseline to baseline, move all of the season ticket holders that attend to the other side lower level, and let the rest fill in the upper deck as much as possible. At least it would give the impression on TV of a more raucous crowd and maybe the better atmosphere would make others want to come. At least it's an idea!!

I don't believe OU will fire Moser. They don't have the money to afford any buyout for him, given they may have to pay BV's (and staffs) buyout, as
Rumor has it our new DC is still coaching and has a game next Monday. If that’s true, most likely no buyout of BV next year. Will not be able to afford it.

The coaches and players certainly come in for some blame, but as in football, the SEC did us no favors in the early scheduling. Two of our first three games were Saturday road games (when the hostile crowds will always be bigger), two of our first three games were against top 10 teams, and the one home game we had (against a top 10 team) was an 8 p.m. tip on a weeknight, which isn't conducive to strong attendance. And our next home game is a 9 p.m. tip!

Again, I'm not saying scheduling is the primary factor in our 0-3 start--not even close--but it hasn't helped. texas started with three top 10 opponents, but two of their games were at home, including one on a Saturday.

What's up with the 9:00 tip? I triple checked to make sure I wasn't seeing something wrong! Hell, I'm showing my age, but 11:00 is WAY past my bedtime!

Seriously? As of last week, 6 of the top 10 teams in the nation were in this league. The fact that two of our three games came against highly ranked teams is not unusual. And as for tip times, nothing is more tiresome than OU fans whining about that. 8:00 is too late, but 6:00 is too early because people have a hard time getting there from OKC, after all. Apparently every game has to start at exactly 7:00 for people to be happy.

In reality, we should be somewhat glad that we got two our our road Saturday games out of the way before classes had started up. Presumably, both those places would have been even more hostile if they had all their students back in town. And all we needed to do is win our home game and the two road losses wouldn't be that big of a deal.

No one seems to know what's up, including Toby Rowland. All I've heard by way of explanation is that it's on the SEC Network, which doesn't clear it up for me. I'm a night owl so the time won't bother me (tip will be at 10 pm for me) but it can't be good for attendance.

It's going to be like church in the LNC between the 0-3 start and the 9:00 tip. Even for Texas. I hope I'm wrong.

They bemoan the fact that people are staying home to watch games on TV and then move a game to 9 because of ...........TV............which makes the fans stay home and watch the game on ............TV!!!!!!!!

SOMEBODY MAKE IT MAKE SENSE!!!!!

the Australian open is taking the espn2 slot .. espn has nba double header ..

so they are doing a triple header on SEC network .. that that is becasue it is OU texas and should get a good number ..

next week they are putting the projected "bad game" on streaming .. ole miss tamu which turns out is a great game

It looks like a timeslot that might have ordinarily gone to the SEC... 8pm on ESPN2 is set aside for the Australian Open. So the SEC Network is doing a triple header starting at 5 CT.

Looks like that one will be on ESPN2 or ESPNU. I guess that late in the Australian Open, most matches are in Australian prime time (i.e., the middle of the night here).

What a waste of OU/Texas and Red Panda!!!!! 😂 😂 😂

I will say to have so much so called clout, Joe C seems to have us on the short end of scheduling an awful lot.

Not sure what recourse Joe C has in scheduling but since ou announced it is joining the sec, ou has been getting railroaded by both our old conference and new. It is incredibly frustrating.

It's the gift that keeps on giving.

Super weird that we keep having to play good teams in the SEC. Again, remember -- Texas and Mizzou are two of the teams we play twice.

It's a great idea. The amount of empty seats in the lower bowl from no-show season ticket holders is quite frankly, an embarrassment. Been that way for years. Will never happen though because of who our AD is.

I've been screaming for this for years. Even when my season tickets would have been negatively affected. I really think the students should be from basket to basket on the TV facing side for the first 10-15 rows. It would look better on TV and be MUCH better for the overall atmosphere. It would also likely lead to better student attendance because the atmosphere would make it fun.

My daughter is at Arizona. She can't get tickets to most of the big games because of the popularity. Sure would be nice to have that problem.
