GAME 28 - OKLAHOMA (17-10) vs #17 KENTUCKY (18-9) 8:00pm CST on SECNETWORK

Because I think trying hard for two games after a five-game stretch of not playing hard isn’t really that impressive.
Fair enough, I’d expect you to be super complimentary of any effort these guys are putting forth when they’re competing with both hands tied behind their back by Moser.

Please start the thread when it’s allowed to be complimentary of anything tied to OU basketball again. I’ll refrain from posting until I get your green light. Thanks.

the 2 leading scorers for kentucky in the game ??

why would he not
After I got over my disappointment and took my personal emotions out of it, I totally agreed with this. Oklahoma City kid, back at home, had an amazing defensive game, made the final play, family in attendance, I understand why he had him there....

A good coach would have sat garrison down and said you squandered your chance to shine at the podium in your hometown game that you played well in, when you decided to make an ass of yourself in front of everyone on the court.

I was about to say something along that lines. Maybe I'm showing my age, but being on the podium you are representing the university. You have to not only earn that with your play but also how you act on the court.

Below is where I was saying fears got fouled. If you watch Oweh definitely gets fears arm on the way, but zoomed in pic also looks like he got ball. Tough callView attachment 2306
At full speed that is impossible to call. Also, the hand/arm is generally considered part of the ball when it’s wrapped around it like that. It seemed pretty clean to me. At best it’s ticky tack to call and how many of us would’ve bitched about losing on a ticky tack call had the roles been reversed and it WAS called?

the arm is not considered part of the ball lol

I think everyone understands it not being called...especially in real time. But it was a foul and IMO it would have been called earlier in the game 10 out of 10 times

Yeah, “generally” was the key word in that statement. It’s not a perfect science, but refs aren’t as willing to give fouls when you’ve covered the ball up with your whole arm like that. Again, like I stated above, at best it would’ve been a ticky tack foul and had the situations been reversed and it was called there would’ve been a ton of outcry on this site about the poor officiating.

yeah pretty sure that was the one we had to have in order to make it, unless we win the SEC tourney or something. I could still be wrong but i think they give us a 45% chance of making it after that loss. Just have to win these winnable games at home, ugh

ready for something different. after almost 4 seasons i just don't believe PM is going to take us in the right direction. I mean, does anyone believe he deserves a 5th season with the way it's looking now? Several winnable games we've lost on account of poor decision making at the end, feels like a broken record. With different players every season, pretty much. common denominator is PM.

Over 21 years as a HC, pm only wins 55% of his games and that's it. Illinois state must be laughing their asses off that we hired him when he couldn't cut it there...

but the foul being discussed wasn't when fears' arm was covering the ball. It was when his arm was extended going for the shot

I’ll never say PM is a bad coach. Bad coaches don’t go to the Final Four with Loyola. But he is not cut out for night in night out toughness if the Big 12/SEC. I truly hope he lands a good mid major job somewhere. But he’s gotta be done at OU.

maybe that's it. Greg Mcdermott was a sub .500 coach at ISU and since the covid year he hasn't missed the NCAA and has 2 sweet 16's and a round of 8 at Creighton.

edit: i want to say this once. the way Porter Moser has had to and rebuilt the roster every year impresses a little and scares me a lot. It's a lot easier to go down than up.

The most egregious contact I noticed was from the camera angle from the opposite basket, where it looked like as Jerimiah went up, Oweh went to swat at the ball and hit the side of his head/face. Enough contact for his head to go back a bit.

My original post was specifically referencing, and quoted, the post with a screenshot where the poster was saying he felt there was a foul when Fears was covering the ball, which is why that’s what I was referencing

I used to think that but I think the picture is becoming clear that he simply got lucky with krutwig. Trent dilfer won a super bowl.. do you think he's a good qb?

And Creighton is a huge NIL player that was paying well before NIL. Remember, they were hip deep in the Adidas scandal back in the day. I think McDermott is a good coach but it's amazing how money can help make a coach better.

He also got to the Final Four through Virginia's bracket the year UVa lost to UMBC as the #1 seed in the tournament.

You play who is in the bracket, but the bracket broke the right way for him that year.

In the sec..?… lol ya, not thinking that… at least not consistent. Typical horrible officiating… on both sides.
